This morning, Google is making a slight update to Wave to help users unclog their inbox from public waves. Previously, you could see public waves in your inbox, which was fairly annoying. Now for a wave to appear in your inbox, you need to “follow” the wave.
When someone adds you directly to a wave, or if you contribute to a wave, you will automatically be following that wave. But when you see a public wave that you would like to get updates on and monitor the conversation, you can chose to follow it by hitting the follow button in the wave panel toolbar. You can also archive waves, which will removes waves from your inbox. When there is an update to an archived wave, it will appear in your inbox again. And you can switch between following and unfollowing a wave as much and as often as you like.
Google says the “unfollow” feature replaces the mute command. You can still find waves that you are not following by searching for them or if you have organized them into saved searches or folders. The feature certainly gives your more control over your inbox, which is always a good thing. Google needs to continue adding more intuitive features to help users better understand the innovative, but confusing communications product.

Awesomeee!!! But first.. They have to make it a little bit more ‘light’ so it will run normally on an avarage computer
!
Light ? I don’t think it’s the computer that’s slowing things down… maybe bandwidth… but more likely – server speed on the ‘cloud’ end.
It could also be bandwith indeed, but I really notice that my larger waves are way slower then my smallconversation-waves..
Google hasn’t opened up wave for more people, have they?
NO.
So lame – can hardly use it. Hurry up pls Google.
Do you think Google Wave will someday replace email? – Global poll at http://qulse.com/q.jsp?id=39
From some of the rumors I’ve heard, Google Wave and the Crunchpad will do away with email…
Wave is still absurdly complex and messy, with non-obvious use cases. This will stall its adoption significantly. While it’s an engineering marvel to see concurrent document modifications, users couldn’t give a damn and it will fail.
And I don’t think people are interested in Google storing even more data about them than they already do.
I think that’s a common misperception of Wave. It’s a technology built by Google but it can be adopted anywhere so Google does not have to own all the data in the same way that if you’re a Microsoft Exchange user right no Microsoft does not have your data.
There’s much more to Wave than concurrent document modification. That, I would say, is its least feature. See my article on the topic of what problems Wave actually solves:

Follow Unfollow. Twitter Model? Oh no.
I don’t think people want Google to store/monopolize even more data and tracking information about them than they already do.
just got a google wave 2 days ago my biggest concern isn’t in box clutter but adding friends to your contact.
add me

if you send me an invite… I’ll definitely add you…

Google Wave must be fantastic. I cannot wait to use it. Could you send me an invite? Thanks very much

My $0.02: Cool feature–but lets get the core features primed and ready to fire before we start playing “feature bloat”… I’ve been on Wave for a little while now and the lag is insane when trying to type in the dialogs (chat, or reply)— I’ve used it with FireFox Uber.Uber and the latest Chrome and it doesn’t help. Go ahead: leave Wave open for more than 20 minutes and look at CPU usage and how long it takes to simply “chat”– it seems to upload each individual character as you type–and it seems to think each character is like 1MB each LOL.
Let’s get the core product fixed before adding a coffee maker, toaster, or whatever else Wave is supposed to eventually do. (Ever here of the Pomegranate Phone?)
Tried it for two days. I think it is too complicated for general public. I would be very surprised if it makes a dent in email popularity.
I have been giving away some invites. http://ctrlalts...ve-invites.html
Alright… I sent out the last few remaining invites to fellow techcrunchers. I’m out of invites. Hopefully the ones I sent to will offer their invites on here.
I don’t understand why everyone thinks it’s so complicated. Have you ever used a chat program? Have you sent email? Can you imagine something that does both of these things with some added features?
i want a google wave account!
can I have a Google wave invite please
If you want an invite nomination send me an email

It may take a few days for it to go through. I have 8 invites remaining, and I’ll post again once they’re used up.
aaaaaand they’re gone. Please enjoy
Still no word on what the **** it’s actual purpose is. I love Google products, but Google Wave is the most pointless thing I’ve ever seen. If I could transfer my invite to one of you that’s requesting one I would cause I sure have no use for it.
