Everlater has secured an undisclosed Series A round of funding led by Highway 12 Ventures, to help the startup “expand its development, marketing and sales efforts”. Terms of the financing were not disclosed, but Highway 12 Ventures’ Managing Partner Mark Solon informs us that it was an initial seed round of less than $1 million.
Everlater is a place where you can basically record your travel experiences, share them with others, and discover new travel ideas from your social graph and other travelers that match your profile. The goal of the service is to centralize all travel conversations and information sharing into a single place.
The startups provides tools to geographically organize photos, stories, and trip details, and has partnerships with the travel industry in place to provide a new marketing channel directly through existing social networks.
There’s a plethora of online travel startups and established companies trying to crack this nut, so I predict the fledgling company will have a hard time gaining awareness for its service, however nice it may be.
Everlater was selected to participate in the 2009 TechStars program in Boulder, Colorado.

Has nobody told these people about WAYN?
Or BallOfDirt.com…
The travel niche alone is so congested what more for a startup trying to build a community for people sharing travel experiences when in fact travel blogs and airline companies have their own blogs and Twitter accounts where customers can just rant and throw at them anything they want.
Speaking of TechStars, are you guys going to follow up with Occipital? They won’t need to raise a dime as long as they’re on top of the App Store (RedLaser has been in the top five for over a month), so no “funding story”, but it’s pretty much the startup dream scenario.
Why wouldn’t I just use Facebook for this- everyone I know is already doing so.
I think that the era of these dedicated applications is fading. We have platforms like Google Maps, FB and App Store that can contain 99% of the start-up stuff covered here. Not sure why anyone would pour this much money into an incremental improvement over what’s already out there…
There are advantages of having outside services, like being able to share it with anyone.
Also, it will be quite useful when planning a trip by looking at others recent trips.
just started using it after reading this article and I have to say I really like it. Definitely better then inputting this information into Facebook and cluttering that up. I rather keep my different social presences online separate and thus clutter free rather then try to pour everything into one service.

Congrats to Everlater! Been hearing quite a bit about them here in Boulder and glad to see they just got some nourishment to keep up the sprint.
How many people are traveling in this economy, and i agree anyone taking trips is bragging about it on face book anyway – never really understood the hype of this one
Tons of people are traveling on extended trips now (this niche tends to go up when people lose there jobs, even though traveling overall goes down).
Extended trips seems to be the niche they focus on, so it actually works pretty well in this economy.
Every time a company from Techstars gets funding, it helps grow the entrepreneurial ecosystem, especially when they are smart, interesting startups like Everlater.
Congrats guys!
I have had the pleasure of getting to know the founders and see the product grow. It is really a perfect tool for those of us that travel a lot and want to share our experiences.
I just put up a page on my recent trip, in case anyone wants to see an example.

Also, they were featured in a documentary of this summer named The Founders: http://www.tech...rg/thefounders/
Congrats guys!
Hi
The iPhone has revolutionized the cell phone industry. No longer are our cell phones just for makings calls. Online graduates are now demanding more and more capabilities from their iPhones.
Congrats guys!
I, personally, can’t wait to see what these guys do with Everlater in the coming year. Remember, people, this is a “start”-up. Not a “finish”-up. Their product is awesome and has plenty of room to grow – it’s the growth that I can’t wait to watch.
