This is, apparently, not a fake exchange. A young journalist comes to Aardvark user Ryan Asava for help. Things go downhill from there. If you never quite understood the service, you’ll get it now. Our previous coverage of the company is here. Thanks Marshall.

“I must have forgotten how young 13 is”
That made my day.
puppy training ftw.
This is not win. This is fail.
What has the world come to when 13 year old calls sex the s word?
FML.
That is one naive 13 year old.
I wonder if I was that naive back then.

Not buying it… This kid somehow knows how to use something as obscure as Aardvark yet…
“And can you use normal words, what does morality mean?”
He doesn’t have the common sense to go to Google and search “morality”?
The only thing I catch was the “s” word… I didn’t know that one…
As someone who was once a 13 year-old male, I call bullshit on that exchange. No 13 year-old boy says “Ewww you said the ’s’ word!”
Check your sources – I bet this was written up by a female.
Good point. Who knows, maybe he was home-schooled for awhile and isolated from the rest of the world. Giving him the benefit of the doubt anyway.
Sexism fail.
True. He could have been trans-gender. My bad.
I’m a middle school teacher, and some 13 year old boys do say Ewww to Sex in front of adults.
looooooooosers!
All of my answers are the same on Aardvark. “google is your friend.”
Solid advice.
Want a new project?
Lol, that’s priceless. Poor kid.
Paul Carr uses Aardvark?
Comment of the day.
FTW!!!
That was a totally funny exchange, for sure. I think I found that tweet through your pointing to @ventilla a few hours earlier, though, Mike. Fwiw, Aardvark totally rocks – for a different example of journalistic use of the service, check out this post I made out of 3 interviews performed simultaneously over vark during the Bing/Twitter announcement. http://www.read...tter_search.php Got terrible pageviews, though – I probably should have done puppy training instead.
No, it wasnt at all. It was done purely for entertainment…grow up.
Aardvark is an amazing service. I really think that it helps people. I don’t know why, but I really enjoy answering questions on there. It gives me the satisfaction of having helped another, I guess.
Either way – this was a funny exchange!
Queuing Chris Hansen Dateline NBC…FTW!
I have an account on @vark. I listed “parenting” as one of the topics I could address. I always give bad advice about the topic.
Definitely a great example of Aardvark’s potential, but I feel like Max and crew are being way too timid with pushing Social Search on the world.
If they really want this all to take off they have got to get it so that our usage of the system effects broader search engine rankings.
Take a bit of time, invest in building out a per-user ‘knowledge area expertise’ generalization layer, and pump that data straight into Google, Bing, Twitter, RapLeaf, and anyone else who’ll take it so that who you are effects the SEO of what you write just as much as who’s linking to your pages and all of that. This is not a completely straight-forward proposition, but it’s certainly doable to an acceptable level of usefulness.
(also, I feel dumber every time I have to refer to the service as ‘Aardvark’ – I propose just sticking with web-friendly ‘Vark’).
Its like LinkedIn questions area for the Graph. Cool, I like this.
I literally laugh out loud at the “i think i’m just going to do puppy training”
Im trying it right now, and its easy to see how it could get big…
What exactly are you trying?
Puppy training?
I thought they were great topics.
I love this site
comedy!
LOL….great example. I understand aardvark now.
Their interface is so much sexier than the other help sites… tee hee… I said the “s” word.
I also call BS on this. Sigh.
I assure you that there is no BS here. Here is the link to the conversation it self. http://vark.com/t/ef01f5
That so-called 13 year old seemed like an article writer fishing for content to resale or publish elsewhere, maybe on a blog/flog, or as one of those articles you see on Associated Content filled with affiliate links. His decision to focus on the “puppy training” niche is what kind of gives it away, imho.
“I think I am just going to do puppy training”…
Genius
Why are there so many haters of puppy training on here?
Um isn’t this similar to Plurk.com?
I think it’s a delightful exchange! I applaud the kid for sticking up for himself, and it’s a relief that he is 13 and is still shows signs of innocence.
What does morality mean? Ha!
real or not, this exchange made me laugh out loud multiple times. priceless.
BTW, on Aardvark, here is an article by Larry Osterman:

Did I miss something? Should a 13-year old be allowed on this site to interact with adults? Isn’t there a TOS that has some age limit. As a mother I didn’t think this was a “win” or a “I get what its all about now”. It made me not want to use the site.
