Want to be the head of Barnesandnoble.com’s international business? Because they’re definitely hiring a whole team, and they’re starting at the top.
Recruiting firm Russell Reynolds Associates is representing Barnes & Noble in a search for the “head of their international business,” according to a source who was contacted about the position. The job entails building the international business for BN.com from scratch, hiring the team and “building the infrastructure outside the U.S.” They prefer the executive live in New York, but Europe is ok, too. Global ecommerce experience is preferred.
Barnes & Noble is no Amazon, but it is a billion dollar company and they have an upcoming ebook reader that kicks the Kindle’s butt (it’s so easy to love unlaunched products, isn’t it?).

@bn.com : Your search ends for Regional Head of Operations – India
Shoudn’t they consider selling Spanish books inside the US first?
So basically they are hiring for position which do n’t have work right?

do they have other positions open ? as id be interested in applying for something in Project /programme Management
Wow, Barnes & Nobel still exists! Ha, just kidding, but they really need to do something other than chase Amazon. They were late getting their .com site going to compete and they are late with the ebook reader. Maybe they should hire new CEO?
As The Onion reported, B&N has been in Cambodia for years…

Pretty funny
They will succeed because competition is good
imho, they should focus on delivering functional service in the USA first. I just tried to register for their free membership club. A short list of things they got wrong:
1. Took 3 days for the welcome email to arrive after signing up in the store.
2. The web site color scheme made their message hard to read and understand, too busy trying to figure out where to click.
3. Once I found the form/page to register and link my in store card to my online account (again why do they make me feel like it is 2 separate stores) only the top 12% of the submit button was visible, I guessed it was the correct button by partial letters and was the only button I could find.
4. After all that trouble, would not accept .info email name
I can only assume that have accepted they can not win and are happy getting what ever scraps Amazon drops while they eat B&N lunch.

Just sell the reader via distributors overseas. Why spend tons of money to built stores just to sell books? Paper bookstore haven’t been a growth industry for decades( no matter what country you are in. )
How much of this expanding is bricks and mortar?
