Today is Windows 7 launch day, and everyone is having a party. In fact, Microsoft’s helpful Windows 7 launch party prepping video is already an instant Internet classic.
But there’s more than one way to have a Windows 7 launch party. The Funny or Die spoof video above shows you how to have a Windows 7 torrenting party, and even gives tips for how not to get arrested. (Warning: there are a few f-bombs at the end). Windows 7 can be so much fun! But what’s with the British accents?
Below is the original Microsoft promotional video, just to refresh your memory.

Oh how fun. I fondly remember going to Egghead software when all the windows 95 hoopla was really picking up and proudly asking for and buying OS2. There is never a dearth of pranks and goodtimes around Microsoft OS releases.
“I fondly remember going to Egghead software when all the windows 95 hoopla was really picking up and proudly asking for and buying OS2″
Wow! Go you rebel you!
Anybody who feels proud about making a big show that they are buying something niche and non-mainstream is proof that they care more about being “against the system” then actually caring about what they are using.
Because by the time of Windows 95 anybody with a brain should have realized that OS/2 was sunk.
hahaha, love the sarcasm.
lol hilarious
I get it’s a joke, but aren’t they sharing the internet connection? Not sure how torrenting in party-form makes it work better…
That’s one FAST Internet connection. :p
Although since the torrent protocol is peer-to-peer, maybe they can all pull off each other’s files, thus meaning they’re basically downloading it once for the whole party?
I think “what’s with the British accents” is that it originated on Funny Or Die’s UK site. We all talk funny peculiar like that here :)
HAHAHA, real funny. looks from watermark to be from uk thats whats up with the british accents
Perhaps the British accents are because it’s made by British folk?
“But what’s with the British accents?”
Maybe because it was written by a British team, used British actory, and is hosted on a .co.uk domain?
Not everyone on the internet is from the USA you fucking chump.
God damn that original party video still gives me shivers…its so awkward
“But what’s with the British accents?”
Go to the British Funny or Die site and you do run the risk of seeing British clips with British actors talking in British accents…
+1
“Leg it!”
This is the bestest video I have seen.
Evar.
“What’s with the British accents?” Seriously? You didn’t notice the video is from funnyordie.co.uk?
The official video is so unrealistic. Why the hell would a random black guy, some milf, an old woman that looks like shes from the golden girls, and a douchebag computer nerd be hanging out together at any party, much less their own?
Obvious political correctness is obvious.
Bingo!
I hate it when a movie or videogame tries to shoehorn this in.
LOL !
an alien watching the original promo..wud probably think tht earth people are so gay..Microsoft wat the hell ur doin!!!
….but then they will read Eric’s “what’s with the british accents?” and they will think earth ppl r just bozos,,,thankya Eric…
Those Apple fans don’t throw cool parties when there’s a new OS. WTF?
“But what’s with the British accents?”
Yeah, I was wondering about that too…pretty weird, right?
Reminds me of a movie I saw where the actors were talking TOTAL GIBBERISH. Seriously, I couldn’t understand a word they were saying. It was so bad the director had added subtitles just so people could understand what his idiot actors were trying to say.
Ya, you forgot to mention that people in other parts of the world sometime need subtitles to understand what you guys call English.. We prefer to call it Americanish and meanwhile it’s not soccer.. it’s football. What you call football, should be called something else, primarily because foot is hardly used!
Also, WTF is ‘British accent’? English is the language spoken/developed by the British, so what you call British accent is the way it needs to be spoken :D
Listen little islanders… whatever we call it in America is what it is. Bottom line. You can pretend we or anyone cares about who spoke what first. This is America and we are the only ones that matter. *chanting* U.S.A…. U.S.A…. U.S.A. *chanting*
Dumb american.
Horrible. This was a really poorly executed video with 0 punchline.
Spouting off about uTorrent’s encryption protection doesn’t make you funny.
Ok, I’m going to get flamed for this but… I think the Windows 7 launch party was a great marketing idea. They did make one large mistake though – they should have included two free versions of Windows 7. In addition to the host copy they could have raffled off the other copy to the guests. Which would have gave people a much bigger reason to attend such a party. As it is the host gets to say “Gee, thanks for coming to my party so I could get it free – now have fun plunking $1xx.00 down for your own copy!”
Windows video was ridiculous. How does any company release that and not get embarrassed.
Oh my goodnesssss.. Apple should use this as an ad!
Is that video really made by MSFT? I want to puke just watching it. I have no idea what they’re even talking about. Those guys need to get out and find some women their age to hang out with (or, are they, well, you know?). If I hadn’t already tried out Win7, which is a great improvement, and saw this video, I’d likely not buy it after watching this crap. I’ve never hung out at a dumb ass party like that in my life. The Brits have it dead on in their video…pull out the pot brownies and beer bongs.
Just to wade into the accent debate – there isn’t a ‘British’ accent. Whilst most American accents are similar, some slightly heavier than others, Britain has many distinct accents. Probably because although I’m British and live in Britain my ‘Accent’ (or lack there of) is English. If you told a Scot he had a British accent I doubt you’d live too long! And we can never forget the Welsh and the Irish. Not that Northern Ireland is in Britain. It’s in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (to use its full title). :-)
This is hilarious! I can take the spoof more seriously than the original ad or “info-mercial”!
I’m not too sure how it works in America but they take it really serious when ya don’t pay their blood-money, yeah? I believe all ware should be freeware, that is if it can lead to advancements and such in technology and living, then definitely. Pity its just Windows 7 though! LOL! (JOKE!)
