There was more than one attendee at TechCrunch50 last month that thought stealth startup Clicker deserved to win the top prize. The company has created a video search engine that really helps users find the content they’re looking for – full episodes of TV shows online – quickly. All the mess associated with most video searches on other sites is removed. Our full writeup, including a video of their on stage demo, is here: TC50: Clicker Wants To Be TV Guide For The Web.
Clicker has started to send out a few invitations to people who’ve signed up on their home page. Those lucky people who’ve gotten in have five invitations to give to their friends.
But what if you don’t have a friend who’s already in,? We’re here to help. Just be one of the first 1,000 people to sign up at tinyurl.com/TC-Clicker and you’ll get instant access.

woot! thanks!
Hey Mike,
Thanks for sharing this. I really appreciate it. I guess that their ultimate goal is to have this content embedded, but it’s great that it takes you right to the episode when they don’t have it. It’s real frustrating that you have to click 20 times just to find shows on TV.com.
I see this getting really big for some company as more and more people watch TV online. I can’t wait to hook my computer up to my HDTV and watch CSI:NY.
Have they shared how they’ll make money? I don’t see any ads when I sign in and watch videos.
Awsome! Thanks TC/Clicker!
I love you!
I got my clicker invite a couple of days ago. Unfortunately most of the content listed is only viewable in the US.
Yes, I know the ways of getting around that but it’s still a pain. I’m hoping more content becomes available internationally soon.
Hi,
Michael, you should keep an eye on a very small boot-strapped start-up called http://www.SetJam.com that’s working to be an even more elegant and light-footed Web-Video guide.
Kind regards,
Shakir Razak
I don’t want to watch TV on my PC. I want remote control ease of use and lean back experience – Netflix and PlayOn on my Xbox is a pretty great solution but this keeps me hunched over a PC
Some of us have really, really comfortable chairs… and some of us have a really big monitor(s).
Trust me, it does make it enjoyable
Sorry for being lazy Mike, Will Clicker push me content based on my profile settings? Sort of like how amazon sends me a list of all the transformer toys I need to buy my youngins ?
I gotta get this off my chest. I love TechCrunch, and I love TC50. But this year, you guys sold out. Clicker is an $8M venture funded company. What the hell is “stealth” about this startup? I’m not saying I didn’t love Clicker, I did. It’s a great idea. I love the ribs they serve at Chili’s too, but they’re not authentic. Arrington, you gotta get back to your roots, man. Treating Clicker and real startups as the same thing is demeaning to both of us.
Hi,
Kevin, ALL might be true at other times, but I think that Michael might be referring to:
A) He insists that companies who appear at TC50, publicly exclusively launch there,
and/or
B) While Clicker now has $8 Milion in funding, it was actually started genuinely small, but the former CEO of Ask, after he got his own cash, as I understand it, bought out that poorer company to turn it into what is now called Clicker!
Kind regards,
Shakir Razak
Sure seemed like they gamed TC50 then. It is a rebranding of Modern Feed, a site that has been around (and with no growth):
http://www.crun...any/modern-feed
Notice the “acquisition” by Clicker. An acquisition even before launch, that’s a lean operation for you.
Snore.
I think clicker is a good idea with a clean site.
Gotta give them respect for being able to raise that kind of dough at a time like this. Is it more than your average startup has raised? yeah maybe but that just speaks to their ability to take care of business. It doesn’t make them any less genuine than the next startup.
Clicker is great, but not for everyone. I have had the chance to checkout clicker and its not my cup of tea, and I think others will agree. I have created a simple TV Guide, where you can quickly create a simple pearsonal tv guide. You can check it out at http://staytuned.in – Stay Tuned In.
I have to reccomend a site called sidereel – http://www.sidereel.com/_home. I have tried them all, and this is by far the best one out there. Sidereel is like amazon , and clicker is like the jc penny catalog.
How do they do what they do?
Can I give my Clicker invite away? I got mine last week but I don’t want it.
I loved the whole website from the navigation to the facebook connect and especially the play list
