We’ve been getting a number of tips about iTunes Connect being down for the past couple of days. Looking into it a little deeper, it appears these are not isolated issues, and that app developers all over the world have been experiencing failing or extremely slow iTunes Connect linkups for at least the past 48 hours. [Update below]
iTunes Connect is software that provides access to tools and resources third-party developers need for distribution of iPhone and iPod touch applications through the iTunes App Store, including app delivery, management tools, sales information, banking setup, and financial reporting.
When it’s down or slow, that means developers run into all sorts of problems when submitting new apps or updates, which is of course a huge problem for professional developers who rely on successful app distribution for running (part of) their business.
Evidently, developers are taking to the Apple dev forum to complain about the problems and about the fact that the company – as usual – isn’t providing much feedback about the issues let alone an ETA for a resolution.
We’ve contacted Apple for more information and will update when and if they get back to us.
Update: An Apple spokesperson has just reached out to us to tell us that the issue has been fixed. They declined to give any details about when it was fixed or what the problem actually was. If any developers are still seeing issues, feel free to let us know in the comments.

Apple & AT&T have some great synergy if you ask me…
Yes, I agree
If that’s sarcasm, the I agree too. AT&T had an amazing chance with the iPhone… and it brought them from the brink of bankruptcy. If only they could have backed the phone up with a cell system worthy.
Yaekss, that’s really hmm, keep us posted TC!
its a real pain, we are trying to upload our iPhone app since yesterday, every time connection timeout…
It’s been down for a few days. Problem is trying to upload files. I doubt anyone has been able to submit an application for the past 48 hours. It’s still not working. Overall, the experience being a iPhone developer is appalling at best.
apple is ridiculous. amazed at how whorish people are at putting up with apple’s bullshit just because of their design/aesthetics.
Also amazing how much fear for Apple these developers who tip us have.
apple is not mentioning issues and hopes that developers will be too scared to tell the world
maybe somebody (TechCrunch?) should make “independent app store status page”?
oh come on… what do you mean “apple is ridiculous” … “whorish” ??
this sounds like a service outage, ever heard of one?
now, a lack of communication is bad on apple’s part but it doesn’t imo warrant the childish rant you spin.
funny how you say this, windows 7 had a few updates and people ranted and still are on there that apple would never ever have an issue. they are too good. But you arent one of those are you? hehehehe
iTunes connect is the most “ghetto” application and I have ever encountered from Apple. It doesn’t make sense, everything else they do is so well done. I dread having to even log into it.
Same problem here, been trying to update screeshots with no luck for days
I am wondering when/if do they fix it?
I’ve been trying to submit an update for 2 days. I’ve made roughly 40 attempts. It’s painfully slow to get to the “Manage Your Applications” page, but when I am finally able to hit the “Update Application” button, the loading indicator runs for several minutes, then Safari reports: “Safari can’t open the page “https://itunesconnect.apple.com/WebObjects/iTunesConnect.woa/wo/xxxx” because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again.”
Perhaps this is Apple’s way of reducing the number of applications that they have to “Not Approve” – we can’t whine about the approval process if we can’t even submit apps!
I’ve been trying to submit a new application since last night. I’m able to enter the information and rating and even upload the app itself, but it hangs when I try to upload the app store icon & screen shots.
I am not surprised at all about Itunes. Apple won’t even fix the burn CD issues it has with the itunes software. They flat basically don’t care. There is numerous cd-rom cases dating back to 2005 that they won’t fix or help the end user solve.
what the hell has that got to do with this itunes connect issue? nothing !!!
troll !
+1 to #itunesconnect fail; prompts me with invalid e-mail address when i log in.
WOW, have you all forgotten who you grew up using? Or at least most of you did. The creators of the Technological Dark Age; Microsoft. Why did you convert to Apple in the first place, and have you ever thought about going back to Microsoft + Crap Hardware Vendor?
Just a bunch of babies crying about how you can’t have what you want, right when you want it. Grow Up. And enjoy the fact that 68,000+ Apps made it just fine, you weren’t crying about how “crappy” the app was then.
OR
Go buy a Windows Box, then cry about that on another blog.
Steve your the child in this situation, that was the biggest rant yet. And its aimed at the developers you need to keep those 10000000 aps you all have. anyone got the real number? these fanboys use a diferent one each time.
Still use windows but I also have an iphone and ipod. Not fixing bugs over 4 to 5 years is inexcusable. period.
I said “68,000+ Apps made it just fine.”
Reference to the “Developers” having had no issues “Submitting” via this “iTunes Connect App” for OVER 68K Apps,
so
learn to read, Michael.
Actually, iTunes Connect has always been extremely slow. It’s just not done very well. On many occasions the upload of an app takes so long that iTunes Connect times out your login session before you can complete the download. Today’s intermittent outages and slowdowns really aren’t much different than most other days.
I would imagine thats because there are a crap load of developers trying all at the same time to do things, and not a big portion of the srvers dedicated to the whole shabang.
I was referencing the fact that all of you come up with diferent numbers. just wondering what the real number was chuckles.
iTunes Connect is working now!
We were unable to submit for three days, but just got it to work. Looks like it’s back up.
yep, apple just reached out to say it’s back up.
It is a crucial decision time for Apple. Either Make ITunes, IPhone and the entire experience more open and or open source, or suffer a downfall and thereby propel Google Android and its Linux cousins to rule the Software Mobile Platforms.
iTunes Connect for Indy music uploads is out as well. Got a few songs to upload but haven’t been able to send anything in for the last day.
Its really really really slow right now.
Is anyone today having problems connecting to iTunes connect (9/29/09 @ 6pm PST)?
Still can’t connect to Itunes since 9/24. Now have 9.0.2 on Vista and can only get some apps and Itunes U. Very aggravating. The connection bar only gets to 50%. Spent 3 separate calls with Apple techs an NO LUCK-Anyone???
Mine is downloading apps at less than a mb an hour!! My ISP says it’s not their fault, as my other speeds are fine – it’s just the iTunes Store (which is extremely slow to load and download).
