Companies and brands always want to have their Twitter profiles and background images fit their profile. Tweet Scenes is hoping to make the process of creating backgrounds for Twitter users much easier. You upload your logo, photos, text and links, and give some basic background information on your company and what you’re looking for. You then pay a flat fee ($129) up front, and get your design done in three business days.
Tweet Scenes is owned and operated by a web design and development company (Carnes Media) with over a decade of design and branding experience. Carnes Media has done sites like Tatango, who we recently covered, Derek Media, and many others.
There are lots of free alternatives to Tweet Scenes, like TwitterBackground.com, which is currently the number one free Twitter backgrounds site. According to Nathan Carnes, the founder of Tweet Scenes, there aren’t any good Twitter background companies that make good quality backgrounds for the brands on Twitter. Also, you should consider the fact that there are numerous third party applications that don’t use Twitter.com, so you will never see the backgrounds.
It’s a little unclear why someone would pay $129 for a Twitter background when you could get one for free — if you wanted to spend that much you might as well just find a designer to do it for you. If you don’t like the background you get, there’s a money-back guarantee. You can find an example of one of the backgrounds below.

Alot of business are using twitter and its a nice idea to make professional layouts. The company that I work for Morthix LLC does them but at about $20 more than this company. You will find alot of older people that are not as “Tech” savvy that can’t make there own backgrounds or are not good at color theory.
There are many sites that do it for less, including my own. Custom backgrounds are mostly for businesses and people with sites looking to brand themselves in my opinion, everyone else can enjoy a free one, unless they want a unique profile and are willing to spend a little cash.
But agreed with the most part of what you said, a lot of people aren’t tech savvy so opening up Photoshop and trying to put something together doesn’t always work out.
Good luck TweetScenes, it’s always nice to see more competitors.. makes all the sites in the same niche get better, and overall, helps the end users.
Our site, TwitterBackground.com, offers the same services as well. I could go into a long of spill about the benefits, etc.; but we posted this YouTube video that may get the points across better: YouTube Video and also more answers to questions in the replies on our page here.

It is a waste to pay for a theme on twitter, until they make some minor CSS tweaks.
It does no good to design a theme for twitter accounts, if the right side of the background image moves behind the content when the screen resolution changes.
The left side of the background graphic is also affected. The larger the screen resolution the further it is pulled away from the content of the twitter page.
If someone knows how I can get in touch directly with the individuals that have control over this, please let me know.
If would also be a huge bonus if twitter let us control the CSS to our twitter page theme.
We are The #1 Rated Ning Network Design Company Since 2007! We would love to design Themes for Twitter members.
Until twitter makes changes, we refuse to build substandard themes for member on twitter.

I can only see businesses who have very little to no knowledge of the web to use this service and the price seems a little steep. I’ll do it for less
Yeah exactly, all you need is photoshop skills lol
Absolutely. If you own Photoshop and know how to use it, then you’re good to go.
A lot of small companies don’t have anyone with those skills in house (especially outside of our little tech world), and could use a hand, though.
Tweet Scene, not sure who they are targeting. Freelancers, perhaps not. Medium enterprise, well they should have a designer on-board. Major brands, perhaps not, selling it too cheaply.
Primarily small to medium businesses. Most small businesses don’t have a designer on board, and in most cases we’ll be cheaper with faster turnaround than their regular design agency for something like this because we’re specialized and know the ins-and-outs.
I don’t see our service appealing too much to major brands, but if it does, hey, great!
Definitely a ridiculous price … and why has this been retweeted so much?? Quality background generators are out there, and you could hire a freelancer to do the same thing at a fraction of the price.
Hope no one gets duped.
How the F is this tech
Congrats TC. You are now realising that all these Twitter related companies you are profiling are all copy me types.
Big question – then why bother covering them ? when there are so many more worthy new startups you could awake the world to.
I don’t understand, how makes Twitter money from his service? Or is this only hype and money sink (like a Youtube) – with investor pyramid game?
how silly of you. Twitter might not be making revenue right now but you’d have to be a complete moron not to see it has potential. They own our data, they own us.
This could be true if you are talking about Google or Facebook; but Twitter? He doesn’t know my real name, my real address, my credit card. I can’t buy anything from Twitter. I’m just using it, and if other will be better, I forget all of **** and I’m changing.
You’re right, I don’t see any potential – maybe are you storing there your psws or pin codes or describes of your habbits, I guess don’t.
Twitter owns nothing from me, only some silly chat texts (in strange language).
Twitter – funny service, like a Youtube – is only gimmick to collect investors.
This only makes sense for customers who think of Twitter as something like your usual homepage. Problem is that many Twitter users don’t actually use the Twitter website at all but some kind of 3rd party client.
Create or resize an image to: 2048 x 1707 pixel, put the visible content on the left side, 300 pixel wide. Upload it .That’s all
Except I don’t display browser windows full-screen, so that left-hand margin is only 175px wide and your visible content is cut in half.
If anyone of you likes anyone else’s background and overall look and feel of their profile, here’s a tool that lets you copy it and apply it to your own Twitter account in one click: http://blog.gad...profile-copier/
Why they are asking that much money… any person with little knowledge of Photoshop can make it… then why to pay for it?
BTW, Tweet Sceenes is apperantly money laundry, not real service for the public. I you have too much money from dr*g dealing, you can convert your bucks to clear money, so simple.
I wish we had too much money. Sadly, that’s not the case, and this isn’t a money laundering operation. Just some web design folks trying to fill a niche our clients are telling us is there.
I think that twitterbackgrounds.com is a great service. We’ve used them for many of our clients – they are quick, reliable, high quality and low priced. Good luck tweet scenes, you’ve got your work cut out.
Good to hear you’ve been happy with twitterbackgrounds.com. We think competition is good for everyone involved.
Our design style is a little different than theirs, and might work better for some tastes, brands, and projects (conversely, theirs may work better in other cases).
Are you really wasting time promoting some $129 background company? We use someone for $10 and get equally as nice work. I am surprised you would cover such a small overally expensive.
It was waste of time to read this blog entry. If Daniel writes something similar again, just throw him out of techcrunch team.
Really? If a person or company isn’t tech saavy enough to create their own background, do they even know how to use Twitter?
Not a bad business idea! 129 bucks for something a 12 year could do easily, seems like a good idea. lol
Thanks for the TwitterBackgrounds mention, TC!
Worth noting about our service: We offer 3 price points on our backgrounds.
- Free, mentioned above.
- Personalized, where you can upload one or several pictures to be included as part of any of our free backgrounds for $4.99.
- Custom where we will put you directly in touch with one of our designers to get you exactly what you want in 48-72 hours or less, for only $99. We offer up to 3 revisions and if you don’t like it, you get your money back.
Ooops my mistake… You mentioned TwitterBackground.com (without the S).
http://TwitterBackgrounds.com is our site. Might be worth checking out as we are the actual leader in both the custom and free background markets.
LOL $129 for a background image? where do I sign up to be in this business? maybe Twitter will buy these gougers out and that will be their revenue model!
