There are currently many image sharing applications available on the web, such as Skitch, LittleSnapper and Flickr. Each of these applications attempts to make image sharing easier. TinyGrab is launching a new application that makes image sharing a two-click process.
TinyGrab is a simple utility for Mac OS X users using the power of Mac OS X’s built in screenshot capabilites, TinyGrab instantly uploads and allows you to share your screen images with a small URL. TinyGrab is Mac only, but according to Keyone Productions, the company behind TinyGrab, there are Windows and Linux versions coming.
Here’s how it works. You take a screen shot, like you usually would with Command + Shift + 4. Your screenshot will be uploaded to TinyGrab in the background in under 30 seconds. When TinyGrab turns green, the upload is complete and a link to the image copied to your clipboard. TinyGrab then generates a short URL for you to share across the web. If you have a premium account, you can upload your images through an FTP server, and search through your “grabs.”
You can create a free user account, which gives you 3 free screenshots a day, plus the ability to share with a TinyGrab UR. Login to your account at TinyGrab.com and see past uploads, delete them or upgrade your account to a premium account for a one time payment of £10 payment, or $16 U.S. You’ll find a demo video below.
Update: We have spoken to Chris Leydon from Keyone Productions, the company behind TinyGrab, and he mentioned that they offer 10 grabs for free now, and not 3.

10 pounds and then can be used for life? Bad biz model…
Since when is a subscription a requirement of a good business model? I could see them doing pretty well with the one-time fee, as long as they keep adding users, or come up with new products for users to pay for in the future.
+ offer limited support, require repayment for upgrades, no transfer of license… still a good price, but the attrition is as important as new users
Actually our support is fairly comprehensive. We make a rule of replying to emails within 24 hours. Licenses are accounts and are thus transferable between machines. No repayment for upgrades.
They are doing pretty well with the one-time fee and we can expect soon the TinyGrab in Windows and Linux versions !
There are a ton of programs like this for free.
ioj.com ( I own it ) Jingproject.com grabup.com skitch etc. etc.
When there is GrabUp (www.grabup.com), then why TInyGrab.
grabup developers are lazy. it broke in 10.6 :-/
“plus the* ability”
Nice app, but I’ll stick with LittleSnapper for now, 3 screenshots/day is quite low for my usage.
TinyGrab currently allows 10 grabs a day on the free version. Part of the site need to be updated with this information. Sorry for the confusion.
The site actually quotes 10 screenshots/day – which is more than enough for most.
http://tinygrab...com/go/register
Not sure who’s right here…
Pretty sure it’s 3 snaps a day.
Reply to my last comment, They say on the sign up 10 snaps a day. But on there About page it claims 3?

I own TinyGrab.com… it’s 10 per day.
Damn. That demo made me really want a Mac.
Nice… thanks for the find!
It looks like they allow 10 screenshots a day though.

Bad time for TinyGrab to be featured on TechCrunch, I’m on the train back from Uni… Having to answer support from my iPhone.
TinyGrab is nice, however there are other similar packages, such as Skitch, which do a pretty similar job, but for free.
The downside is that as far as I know, Skitch can’t do an automatic upload as soon as you issue the command, however, the upside is that Skitch is totally free, it can upload to Skitch’s website or your own FTP or SFTP account, and you can edit stuff within Skitch itself – such as adding arrows, text, etc, and there’s no limit to the amount of screenshots you can upload, as far as I know. Thus, I just can’t see myself forking out £10 for something that I can use for free, and which is, in my opinion, better.
TinyGrab would need to offer something unique to make me fork out £10. And as of yet, I’m not seeing anything unique.
This is a total knock-off of Skitch, except with less functionality (which doesn’t make Skitch more complicated to use).
Oh, and you can use Skitch with your existing hosting so it’s basically free.
Skitch and TinyGrab aren’t the same thing at all. Grabbing an area, waiting, then clicking upload.. waiting, then clicking copy and finally pasting a link.. kinda slow. All I do is cmd + shift + 4 and take the shot, it uploads and copies url to clipboard in the background.
TinyGrab is basically the same as GrabUp, but GrabUp service has been so shitty recently and they delete your screenshots after 24hrs on the free service.
After GrabUp ceased to work in Snow Leopard (due to the new naming conventions…and poor programming), I tried Skitch. It is without doubt the definition of over-complicated. I want to take screenshots, that involves: being able to do it quicker than I can type “hello”, uploading to a hosting service, and maybe getting a short URL. Nothing more…TinyGrab does all 3 without effort.
Obviously, that doesn’t make Skitch useless, being able to add text and drawings to screenshots is useful at times, but to say TinyGrab is a total knock-off of Skitch is quite simply idiotic.
spam marketing fail.
grabup.com
they just have to add tiny urls, but they are better than this, the premium let you use your own server and watermark.
Grabup doesn’t work with Snow Leopard, currently.
Premium version of TinyGrab allows you to use your own server and is cheaper than Grabup’s offer.
haven’t you just copied grab up entirely though?
Seriously, this is just a repackaged grab up. Plus I host my own files thanks go Grabup.

Perhaps you could offer something new? Like the price point, but I’ve had GrabUp for a year now… Old news.
We offer an online control panel with various management and organisation tools, the same account also gives you access to Windows and iPhone versions of the application.
TinyGrab might be the same as grabup, maybe better. but grabup is just so cool
Why not just use Grabup.com? All they have done is the same as Grabup and try improve on something that didn’t need improving. Plus charging for the service. Just use Grabup Simples, works for Windows and Mac.
Grabup is diabolical.
It was fantastic originally, but after it changed hands there was suddenly no customer service, no updates, grabs were deleted – and it now doesn’t work with Snow Leopard.
But Antie helps GrabUp work on Leopard for those who still want the best app, though without the updates:

I’d just like to add, there is a Windows Version of this brilliant program, which is very, very awesome.
I’d rate it 15*/10.
It’s that good.
Who does the voice for the video? It sounds so familiar.
Max Murphy, quite a close friend, from Mac News Weekly (www.macnewsweekly.com) recorded the voiceover as a favour on launch day… my microphone broke.
I just reviewed TinyGrab on my blog because I was so happy with it.
http://blog.ada...sting-services/
It’s all about the workflow! I’m not a fan of Skitch’s workflow to be honest. Here’s an excerpt from my review.
—————-
6. TinyGrab: My new crush. TinyGrab, the company, and I started off to a rocky start but their new product is blowing me away. It does a few things exceptionally well and is the best screen grab tool I’ve ever used.
* It’s a Desktop based app
* It uploads your photos automatically to their servers as soon as you take a screen grab
* it also replicates those screen grabs to your FTP server (peace of mind for me)
* It auto shortens a link and puts it in your clip-board
* It’s freemium (pay for more features)
* It’s a reliable and easy to use service
Here’s the awesome workflow of TinyGrab.
* I select a piece of my screen using Apple+Shift+4 on my keyboard
* The TinyGrab icon in my menu bar turns orange as it uploads the photo to their servers & my personal FTP server
* All I do once the icon turns green (within 1.5 seconds) is hit Apple+V on my keyboard and a tiny link has been placed into my clipboard. Here’s an example of one http://grab.by/3aY
TinyGrab is great for people like me who don’t need comments on TwitPic and doesn’t need a photo to be easily viewable forever (like Flickr) or needs a title. I just snap and paste the link into Twitter, a word document or email and the recipient gets a quick-clickable photo link. It’s nothing short of AWESOME for sharing screenshots.
Alpha Windows versions of TinyGrab are available to try at http://tinygrab...com/windows.php
Although we do stress that they are test versions and can be quite buggy.
Absolutely stupid business model. It’ll be gone by the end of next year.
Awesome product! Can’t recommend it enough.
Daniel Brusilovsky, the author of this piece, should really have mentioned GrabUp if he wanted to appear to be writing an informed and impartial piece.
I have nothing to do with GrabUp but am losing patience with ‘fluff’ pieces for friends on Tech Crunch.
TC You’re in danger of losing your credibility
Apologies but Skitch, LittleSnappr and Flickr weren’t enough?
I’m sure there are hundreds of services out there that should be mentioned just because GrabUp is in the top 5 doesn’t mean it needs to be mentioned.
What fluff?
The built in Snippit tool for windows sucks and I was looking for an alternative. I gotta say the 3 you mentioned were only for mac. GrabUp however seems to be the only one that looks good for PC.
Any pc alternatives (skitch and little snaper looks great cause of the annotation function which GrabUp for PC and the others mac apps dont have)?
There is an alpha of TinyGrab for Windows at http://tinygrab...com/windows.php
Lets make some more empty threats, why don’t we?
Similar to SuperQuickLink (Windows only):
http://www.superquicklink.com
But SuperQuickLink also lets you “copy” (CTRL-SHIFT-C) files up to 1 TB (via Diomede Storage).
A similar for Windows is ScreenSnapr (www.screensnapr.com). It functions the same way but will allow you to upload to the ScreenSnapr server or your own FTP (for free). No limits exist on the upload count.
But those windows alternatives dont have annotation/editing (actually screensnapr does, but you have to buy the full version to get the editor)
5 bucks is better than the alternatives
.
O I just bought it…didn’t realize all they wanted was $5
They are rather reasonable
It should be noted that everything with TinyGrab interacts with THEIR servers. Grabup if you paid for it would upload strait to your FTP. Even if you pay for TinyGrab and setup an FTP account the screenshot first goes to their servers and THEN to your FTP.
Be warned when using TinyGrab for confidential docs / pictures.
Yea, I chatted with Chris (owner) about that. Currently I use the feature but created a new (limited) ftp account for the image uploader.
I really hope they move it into the app soon. From what I’ve heard it’s planned to be able to do direct FTP upload from the app itself – simply using your account login to authorize the software (on windows, mac and for iphone).
If you are interested in sharing (and commenting) images that are already on the web try iKomment http://ikomment.com
It’s in alpha but it’ the fastest way to share/add a comment to an image and share via Twitter/facebook with a bit.ly url like this: http://bit.ly/136pOb
No install and no login required.
I’m surprised Jing has gotten so few shoutouts. Three click uploads with automatic URL copy to clipboard. Plus: copy image to clipboard or save it to disk; keeps files forever; single click captures an app’s window automatically or drag to select a clip region; and Skitch-style annotations.
Winner.
Installed and added to dock – bounces once then … nada! Am i missing something?
