Want to keep track of Yankees games, Bristol Rugby matches, or the schedule of the Taiwan Beer team (for all of you fans of the Taiwanese Super Basketball League out there)? Now you can subscribe to the schedules of your favorite professional sports teams on Google Calendar. Just click on “Add other calendars” in the left-hand column and browse “interesting calendars.”
Google just added sports calendars for football, baseball, basketball, rugby, hockey and soccer. It also released a few other features today, including the ability to add birthday reminders for your contacts. If you have their birthdays in Gmail contacts or it is in their Google profiles (we all have one of those, right), then it will automatically populate your calendar with their birthdays.
Google Calendar Labs also has two new features. Meetings that are scheduled on a repeated basis can be dimmed in the calendar. Those weekly staff meetings are so much background noise anyway. And now any Google Gadget can be added to your calendar.

Nice addition (if a bit overdue on the birthday front).
My professor used to use Google Calendar to put up our class schedule. It worked really well. It’s nice to see they’re improving it and trying to make it a more noticed feature in the Google suite
Sport team schedules, birthday reminders are not so new. But good addition to Google Calenders. It would help in gaining current knowledge about sports, etc. also a nice feature to set reminders.
bout time
It’s nice to see that they are re-implementing a feature that they previously had (sort-of).
Before you could at least search for calendars, but I suppose it will be nice to have one official calendar instead of searching through all of the public ones that people make.
It’s funny, Yahoo had that add-sports-teams-schedules-to-your-calendar feature years ago, but now its new version of calendar does NOT have it. Hopefully they bring it back as they continue rolling out their new calendar.
You can still add team calender to Yahoo calender. Look for the “add to calender” link on the team page.
example:

the ical link:

How difficult it was to add how old is the B-Day person? Like John(25). Also should work great not only for b-days but any anniversaries.
That feature was requested a lot and it takes like 30 mins to implement… Still not there.
The birthday calendar has been available for a while now. I added it to my calendar weeks ago.
Nice… just after I made some csv files and imported them into gCal.
WIll you guys post about Birthday calendars and sports team calendars in the Windows Live Calendar?
yeh, i didnt think so.
hint: ive had a birthday calendar over in windows live for over a year now. auto generated off my contact’s info.
Walled gardens like Windows Live are dead unless you own stock Nathan.
really? walled garden? how is it walled garden if you can import/export ICS? share through RSS?
oh, i get it, you dont care. its not made by google so its obviously wrong.
You can add calendars but they wont sync with your mobile phone.
Too bad the sports events all default to 1 hour in length; should be a default of more like 3 hours. I do like the score display though.
the birthday feature wont sync from apple address book data…
do they expect this data to be input by hand ?
(not going to happen)

Um, didn’t When.com do this about 11 years ago? Why is this even noteworthy?
ok then after 2 weeks their system would be down and then you would be wondering when is your next appointment…
I DONT TRUST GOOG … sorry i know u would tell i am from diff planet…
nice, but how about tennis, and auto-shows calendars?
how about highlighting date/s, and some command would enter them as events ?
also, Soccer World Cup South Africa 2010. I mean, keep it coming.
I added new calendars, and the service went down with Server Error.

Am I the only one with this?
Up again.
Nice addition
I am not secure with google anymore.
I tried Yahoo Calendar, but now I am using a new system, http://www.neotriad.com , I am enjoying the features focused in time management.
I coded the birthdays in calendar from google contacts for myself using the Google Data api’s.
It was close to being available for everyone but then I read Google was finally coming up with their own implementation.
Well, it was fun working with the api and app engine.
