TheFind, a technology-heavy shopping search engine, has acquired the deal-driven shopping site iStorez.com. iStorez aggregates the latest coupons, sales and deals from retailers across a variety of categories. Terms of the acquisition are not being disclosed, but we are hearing it was less than $500,000.
TheFind, which is a search engine geared more towards finding new products than locating a price for a particular item, will use its latest acquisition to attract consumers who are looking for promotions, deals and sales from online retailers. This is probably a wise move given the current economic climate. Everyone is looking for a deal and its helpful to have information about sales and promotions side by side in your shopping portal.
TheFind is hoping to be a one-stop shopping destination for consumers where they can search for a varied list of items from multiple sources. The site currently indexes 350 million products from over 500,000 stores. Last year, TheFind launched an iPhone app that allows users to search for stores in a region that are selling a particular product. The app will also compare prices of products from stores in your location and even calculates the cost to drive from your location to a particular store. In 2007, TheFind acquired Glimpse, a womens’ shopping destination.

Man, that is a pretty low exit for a webpage. I personally own a deal webpage too. Esp. at 2.3MM funding, that’s a very low exit. Hopefully I won’t be exiting for that

We are hearing that theFind.com is in talks with BoilingPage (http://www.boilingpage.com) for their products vertical (http://products...boilingpage.com). It’s going to be interesting as BoilingPage will bring what’s hot among people in real time. Given that we are now entering the real time era, this is a smart acquisition.
Is that price a typo? Did you miss one 0 after the 5, or a 1 before?

That is so NOT going to happen.
Not in a million years. The trend is fragmenting e-commerce with new niche players emerging each day with better/faster/cheaper e-commerce experience.
$26M of funding, maybe more coming, yet there is no chance they’ll get to the valuation justifying these rounds. kudos for trying!
26M in funding, how come I haven’t ever heard of it this website? results are pretty good.
I much prefer http://www.dealtherapy.com
Nice Post ….I want to know more about startups during receeesion…..Where can i find it??…
I dont see an iStorez community of deal hunters — slickdeals.net and fatwallet.com are the best in my opinion because its a community of people who pride themselves on being cheap (I subscribe to wireddeals.com which aggregates them both together).
iStorez doesnt have a community driven rating system for how good the deal is.
I shop often from TheFind and end up with good deals and discounts online as well as in stores. I really like the quality of search results and the overall user experience is great for me. Even when I know what and where to buy, I never miss visiting TheFind for price comparisons and hot deals info. Excited to know about the iStorez acquisition. This means more deals and discounts from my favored shopping destination.
I’ve always liked iStorez for its unique email aggregation system… easy for retailers to maximize promotional messaging by recycling content. Average cost per order rates can benefit if consumers see more than just short branded bursts of discount codes and specific offers.
As a consumer, I like iStorez because it gives me a second chance to access an email that I’ve received in the recent past, in the event I want to re-examine the content in full and maybe click through on something.
