Readers who follow us regularly know that MG Siegler and I have a difference of opinion when it comes to phones. He’s an iPhone guy, I’m now an Android man.
Our verbal jousts to date have been in good fun, but there is an undertone of seriousness that needs to be resolved, one way or another. Now we have that way.
More to come. Thanks to YouRenew for so generously making these for us. I hope you don’t expect them back.
p.s. – from left to right in the video is intern David Diaz (HTC Hero), research analyst Daniel Levine (iphone, segway) and intern Cameron Christoffers (HTC Magic/G2). Interesting sidenote – Cameron and David are college buddies, and when they hit on girls they introduce themselves as “Cameron Diaz.” Whatever else you say about our interns, they are never dull. Catch them on the CrunchCam, they’re here all summer.

i’ll take any leftover parts lying around
Are we taking bets?
Give me $100 on the iPhone …
you don’t need either of these phones. Just SMS to 650-868-6724 with ‘traffic 101S, san francisco’ or ‘cheapgas 95051′ or ‘parking union square san francisco’ or ‘news’ or ‘techcrunch’ or ‘joke’ and many more .. you get the results right away. What more can we ask .. I’ve been using this service for a while even thought I have an iPhone ..
Wow, that’s a neat way to read TechCrunch news while away from the computer. It really worked. Thanks Peter for sharing this.
Diamonds became FREE – before it was 1$.

This is a pretty cool service, I tried ‘cheapgas 94065′ and I realized how varying the prices .. Gosh I wish I used this service earlier, I could have saved some money. Thanks Peter for saving my ass ..
Hero FTW

Sack him, that’s your only option.
where is the crackberry or env?
Crackberry’s are so 2002.
Get another segway and have them joust.
Join the war I would. But find Nokia 3310 I can not
Huuhhhh, Michael, I missed the point of that video. I was expecting to see something happen to the phones, or at leased to the life size walkign advertisement costumes, but I end up watching a commercial for YouRenew!! Are we to expect more?
Really want every detail of your joust recorded and uploaded in a series of blog posts.
e.g. round one – the drop test, round two – the water test…etc
course. goes without saying.
yeah this was sort of the trailer. destruction to come.
Paintball?
good idea! i was thinking hoses, or baseball bats.
baseball bats sounds good, so does running them over with the Segway.
Maybe this battle should be part of the Engadget Show.
Which Phone is better? What does TC as a blog recommend to it’s readers?
I hope it’s not like how Yahoo recommends browsers!
whichever one wins the upcoming phone war, of course.
I reject the humor tag on this post.
fair enough.
nice to see about the phone wars
Oh my god, I am heading to the office right now to show my support for Mr. iPhone.
MA / MG gangster alert: Going to the office sometime after noon for the sole purpose of showing support for the lil homie….Gangsta
the iphone on the segway made me inhale coffeee. thanks TC!
I’ve been seeing this from the beginning. iPhone vs. Android is Mac Vs. PC all over again. With both sides representing the openness and flexibility vs the closed yet controlled, and the pros and cons that come with each.
I currently have an iPhone and love it but I’ve been itching for a good Android phone and to start developing apps for it, for quite some time now.
Manheld devices are the future
Well this is pretty much expected like the Touch revolution, every company is throwing their version of touch phones for the war!
Rule 34 [1] is alive and well no doubt.

did you really have to go there?
Heh.
I love the title!
Michael is this what you keep your interns busy with ?
