For me the real potential in Social CRM is building a profile of your customers based on the accessibility of information you don’t store on them in your CRM but they are happy to post on social networks. That and the ability to link a CRM record to a socnet profile so your customers maintain their own record by keeping their profile updated.

I’d like to see more of this than productivity tools that encourage using Twitter to make them work rather than effective existing use of Twitter.

I am all for social media and whatnot… but (sorry Yammer and etc) these “other” productivity communication services are crap in a real world large team environment.

There is certainly a need for project management, ticketing, etc… but extra forms of communication?

Skype (chat, cheap/free calls)
Email
Phone (when skype not available/not convenient)

Skype for chat. Email for updates.

Ever think how much MORE you can achieve by spending 5 minutes on the phone rather than exchanging messages for hours?

Yeah, this is what business managers need to be doing… Tweeting employees to ask what they are doing…. That is productivity defined…
