You won't be able to run iTunes on ChromeOS. So, if you are a real Mac user and have an iPhone, ChromeOS is kind of pointless.

You'd never be able to sync your Movies, TV shows, Photos and Music to your iPod/iPhone!

That's how we know that Mac users won't care about ChromeOS!

You've been hosting that cable show for a long ass time Kper. A LONG ass time. We know you don't wanna move back to Ceritos. I lived in Bellflower right next to there, before moving to west LA. But you got to do something. It won't last 4ever.

AOTS is getting really old.

When they started the myspace girl of the week, I stopped watching. That's when I knew it was going down hill.

In your pants is just grasping at straws to get people to watch. I want to say that it started going down hill with Sarah Lane leaving, but she really wasn't that good to begin with.

Um, I think it's time to retire the show.

Go ahead Kevin Pereira, start your Digg. I dare you. I bet you can't do it. I bet you can't translate your G4 fame into business success like Rose did.

Please - just as much denial as tc itself which is a real feat. OS X users are in far more need of a cheap netbook type solution than windows folks (thus a thriving hackitosh scene) and a good deal of them, MG himself is a perfect example, already spend a lot of their time in the cloud. I still don't understand how he is so excited by this but by his own definition of who it is directed at - he won't using it. (His believe that OS X on a computer doesn't matter is misdirected - just as that claim always has been.)

Also, OS X has attracted a large number of new users who are not nearly the macheads the old school is. My family is a perfect example - when both my mom and then my sister's macbooks went down they just got cheapo netbooks because all the did was spend time online anyway. Myself would definitely try a google os when my mac has had it.

As for the general market - the truth is that for the most part it just goes with what it knows - you can see that in the fact that most netbooks are sold with xp when their is no earthly reason, given what the machines are good for, why a decent linux install won't do.

Plus average users have shown next to no interest in google has a handset provider and they don't know google as a OS provider at all. There is no evidence this will work any better for average users particularity because the announcement was essentially...air.

Here is the situation:

Microsoft will be smart here. They are proving time and time again that they have been ready for these market challenges.

Does anyone know that Windows XP has been known to run off a 40MB imprint? Microsoft could sell a micro version of XP to netbook and low cost laptop makers for $10 a copy and pioneer $199 to-own computers (not the subsidized mobile plan ones).

Don't forget, even though XP is a 8 year operating system, it is still the most used and supported OS in the world. XP can easily enjoy another 10 years of life in the form of handheld (ZuneXP) devices and take up the realm of the in-car navigation computer which can run Google Earth attached to an internal GPS.

I love Google as much as the next guy, and I think the work they are doing are pushing all web products to the future we all visioned 15 years ago. I think Microsoft are smarter than everyone gives them credit for and if they just keep the tap on XP they can cover all the lower end computers and let Windows 7 cover all the higher end computers. Why Zune HD is not running a micro version of XP is beyond me.

Too much hype indeed.

When I purchased a netbook, I already said 'no' to Linux, and I think most have done the same.

Calling the linux based choice 'Chrome' won't make a difference.

It won't hut Apple as much or at all because Apple is a much more niche market of extremely dedicated users. Microsoft has the more general market and that's where Google is targeting. It will be much easier for Windows users to switch off to Chrome OS than for OS X users.
