Exactly! It is very hard to receive the "correct" answer to an open ended, subjective question. For those types of questions, you need many responses not just one.

The key difference with asking on Facebook is

a) the question does not get directed to a person who has volunteered as an expert.
b) over time the expert will get rated for the value of his answers (similar to yahoo answers)

Facebook is fine for simple questions or a niche where one of your known friends is an expert, but for broader requirements (e.g. an American wanting to now how best to go from Delhi to a village near Gaya in India who may not have any Indian friends from the state of Bihar), it may not be so.

Getting an answer directly on Twitter is more spray and pray. This looks much more focussed on a specific niche (Q&A) with the trust factor added on. Need to see how they integrate into the various social options including Twitter.

This is one area where Yahoo Answers does not look strong, else they are quite huge at this point comparatively.

Who between Facebook or Google will go for them if they get big? Maybe MS will spring a surprise.

I use Aardvark via IM for months & love it. It's the best Q & A i ever tried.
The more i use it i realize i answer more than ask, and yet it's both informative and fun.
As to Vark's integration with Twitter, it reminds me of @answers by Mahalo.
Personally i find Vark more efficient in a more quiet environment such as IM. Twitter feels right for asking friends directly, not going via Vark's robot. Robots work much better on IM, just my 2c's. Best of luck to a great service!

I've been using Aardvark for a few months until I got annoyed with the constant flow of incoming questions not related to my skills/knowledge. So I unsubscribed.

The service was *maybe* a little bit useful before Twitter... now it's *really* useless.

One has to wonder about the following:

1) SMS as a query platform - current data is not strong, so a change in user behavior is required. Why not just post the question on Facebook?

2) the value of the social graph in providing relevance - why do you need to route the question instead of just twitting the question to your followers?

3) latency of answers - while it's great that you don't have to be in front of a computer to get an answer, having an unpredictable time frame on results could cause trouble.

4) if it's taken them over a year to get it to be where it is now, which is not great -several people including myself have stopped using it - what do we expect will be different now that will lead to mass adoption?

It sends the question through IM to someone who has stated they have knowledge in the subject in some way. The friend-of-a-friend connection provides enough social capital that if I know the answer, I feel compelled to help when I know the answer.

The problem I've had is I get *an* answer, not necessarily *the* answer, since the questions are usually subjective. But the answers usually feel correct, partially as a result of them coming from someone with whom I have some kind of loose connection.
