尽管iPhone里集成了众多Google服务，也包括Gmail，但在iPhone OS 3.0可以推送MobileMe、Yahoo Mail和Exchange的时候，依然见不到推送Gmail邮件到iPhone的功能，这难道是Google对Android系统独有特性的保护（说不通，因为Palm Pre就支持）？其实正是这个原因导致了我从iPhone转用G1，尽管iPhone其它方面已经让我很满意。

Apple is worried about battery life balance which is why they push out new features slowly. Gmail push might cause a lot of server issues. I am sure it will be rolled out soon.

if mobileme would just allow custom/branded domains I would be happy. i have been impressed with the mobileme trial, but i will cancel the trial until i can abandon the user@me.com reply address. Apple should really take advantage of all the MS converts NOW. exchange is painful and expensive. as for the gmail thing… why doesn’t the iphone support imap idle directly through the mail app? these are real world solutions. the rest (IMHO) of these solutions are just jerry rigged.

The app is 99 cents today and will be $1.99 for just PUSH Notifications. In other words you could build this app in a single day from begin(client code) to end(push feedback services) and submit it with the current 29 day wait. I do not understand why this app is not free.

I’d like to comment on a quote from this article.

“Not “instantaneous,” but not bad either.”

This is because Apple clearly states that PUSH is not reliable nor does it guarantee delivery. If you understand the architecture you will see why this is the case. No it is not as unreliable as raw datagrams however it just doesn’t guarantee any delivery whatsoever. If you don’t believe me read the docs from APPL.

App approved. Their servers failed from lack of preparation and app has been pulled from the store. Either it will show up again when their servers are ready or they just failed to realize the infrastructure necessary for this service. I am guessing that since Apple doesn’t tell devs when things are hitting the store that the company was just not prepared, well at least I am hoping because I would like for this to work.

What about “New Email”, it just came up on the app store on the 3rd of August. I haven’t been able to download it yet though! I really hope it’s just an error and not Apple pulling the same junk that happened to google voice!
