Yahoo Search Pad is trying to address one important problem with search today - repeat queries. More than 40% of searches are repeat queries (people looking for the same information that they have found before) and almost all searches are duplicate queries (people looking for something that someone else has already found). As a result, we waste a lot of time searching.

Linklex.com (http://linklex.com) a search engine that allows users to save, reuse and share their search results will be launching in private beta tomorrow. The ability to save, reuse and share search results is important to help searchers overcome two of the main problems with today’s search engines, repeat queries and duplicate queries.

If you did not sign up for google notebook BEFORE google "killed" it, you cannot use it; you can still use it if you signed up before though. Also, you can no longer download the firefox extension.

"For example, if you start running a number of queries related to a certain car model, Yahoo will detect that you’re going to ‘research mode”,"

They should detect that if Im running multiple queries its because their search engine isnt producing relevant results. work on that first, then add the bells and whistles like Search Pad which noone will end up using/caring about

I love that innovation (using that term lightly) is happening in the search space. It really does look like a cool product for the average Joe using Yahoo. That being said, I'll stick with Diigo for my note taking.

P.S.- Google Notebook is dead.

Very nice. Jason, how about a bookmarklet instead of a plugin or add-on to jump to your search notes. This is way less commitment for the user (no downloads / installation) and less work for Yahoo to build and maintain.

Just a thought.

i've wondered why for so long google and these guys let their SERPs languish. They could have kept them so simple for so long, while letting savvy users access a wealth of features via single menu in the upper right or something.
