Only a couple of days after George Hotz became the first hacker to release a jailbreak app for the iPhone 3GS on Windows, there’s a Mac-compatible version out too. This time, Hotz got some help from two fellow coders to be able to please the Mac folks, but he also made some improvements to the Windows version.
Click the image above and then click the logo you know all too well to download.
Happy jailbreaking, and in case you didn’t know yet: happy unlocking too.

oh snap.
Its very easy to jailbreak the device too. With the help of purplera1n.. Just a few steps and installation of Freeze app which helps in getting Cydia into 3GS.
It would be better if you share a tutorial for mac users, i have written one but a video from you guys would be awesome.

Read the news at Tech 24 Hours too. Some users had their iPhone frozen while trying to jailbreak it.
Here’s the link, if anybody wants to read more:- http://www.tech24hours.com/
Both of you guys should really focus more on generating high quality content before you litter your site with disruptive ads. I immediately closed my browser and will likely never return.
Lastly, baiting your link in every TechCrunch comment is so MyLocator of you.
What are you complaining about Colin? Tech 24 Hours does have an article that talks more about the effects of jailbreaking with a link to George Hotz’s blog. Every blog and website has ads these days. Techcrunch has ads too.
It’s deceptive, and by extension, an abuse of TechCrunch’s readership. It is fail. Especially because it’s so damned obvious.
You said you immediately closed your browser. That is a lie!!!! You are a liar!!!!!!! Liar Liar pants on fire!!! You took the time to leave this comment you retard
spam. link contained zero relevant content for claim made by spammer.
Do you even know how to read?
Let others read the content and decide for themselves, before you go screaming SCAM!!
Seems like you guys didn’t even read the said article at Tech 24 Hours and started complaining about Spam.
Here’s the link again for Devin & Jehosephat:-

I used QuickPWN on my iPhone 1 and OS 2.2
I don’t see the point of upgrading to the 3GS. I get 2G on T-Mobile and I have Cydia, and it works good. Plus I alternate between it and my G1.
No need for a 3GS. I have especially no need for that $100/mo AT&T contract. I finally got my T-Mobile bill down to $58 taxes and all for unlimited data by using my Skype mobile app to call China.(it only uses local minutes or none with wifi)
Give us a reason to upgrade to a 3GS if we are on T-Mobile???
No wanted your view or damn story
Here’s how much I saved installing Skype
http://tinypic.com/r/jq1abs/5
I use the iPhone regularly with T-Mobile by having edited the XML with WinSCP
That’s my damn story.
I now pay $12/mo for unlimited long distance on iPhone, G1 and home phone. And I use IPTV through my media center so I don’t pay for cable.
These phone and cable companies are such thieves, esp AT&T. Esp the Canadian ones. We should all bankrupt them collectively. Just like GM.
One Jake to another, why are you so fucking negative?
TechCrunch staff: I understand you all use iPhones. How does it make you feel that your beloved Apple treats its customers as a flock of sheep – jailing you and locking your phones?
I’m a windows mobile power user…..but what is your comment about? surely it must be a joke on your part.
anyways, it’s good that they can unlock the 3gs now at least they have a little more freedom.
the grass is always greener on the other side.. or so we think
I accidentally ran this program on my iPhone 3G.
Now it won’t let me restore it in iTunes.
Someone help please.
accidentally? good luck with that.
i will not run this program on my iphone.
Thank you for sharing this information with us.
Happy jailbreaking, happy unlocking…
…and happy bricking.
I tried to unlock my 3 GS on Saturday… took almost three hours.. but now it works
chapeau

A few days? I hacked my iphone in less than a minute. Honestly, hackers these days… :p
Took about 3 minutes to jailbreak my 3GS. I just ran purplrain, connected the iphone, and it rebooted then was done. Using a MacBook wih OSX 10.5.7. Couldn’t have been easier.
