Let's face it---all these "social" sites are the same. I've been on my space, facebook, twitter, and myyearbook. Nobody really cares about anyone else on these sites and overall they are meaningless. I do use them to keep up to date with some of my favorite writers and I enjoy the games on myyearbook, and being able to donate to causes. But in the end they are all just another fad for bored people who can't or won't get out and meet real people. One day all these sites will fade away. Who cares who goes first?

it should read on of the following:

"A place for layoffs"
"A place for MySpace employees who actually use Facebook"
"A place for HR severence check blunders. But they are sorry for the inconvenience, so it's all OK!"
"A place to dissolve so Van Natta can collect some real coin on them Facebook shares"

Just look at one of myspace's DW project manager, or literally a task/event planner. Know nothing about what is going on with the project and simply organize the weekly "events"...lol...

More than that, he was a fellow dog of the failed DW manager - who was fired (yes not laid off because the position will be filled) during the massive layoff. The dw manager was fired because of holding her employees from working on tasks and therefore wasting company money and resource.

This DW project manager, however in purpose of flattering his boss, help the manager to supress the employees. He tried to confuse the team that the employees are not moving tasks forward while it is actually him, as a event planner, failed to remove the impediments (his essential responsibility).

Fail to move the task forward and hurt the company performance, while shift the blames to the innocent employees...

Myspace execs, the layoff and pruning the so-called "fat" is not over yet...

Facebook has 71 million users in the United States. MySpace 70 million.

You're coverage of MySpace is elitist, racist, classist, and deplorable... your constant condescension is disgraceful:

http://www.poptech.org/blog/index.php/archives/4438

You do the Web and democracy a disservice with every article like this. 70 million people don't think MySpace is ugly...

Facebook censors (no breast feeding allowed), MySpace does not.

MySpace makes money. Facebook does not. They will sacrifice your privacy to get the money eventually.

Open up your mind... MySpace is going mobile... the UI will be a mute point... you'd know that if you used and looked beneath the surface of things...

I second that.
The initial UI design is what kept me away from this fake-people infested melting pot of "opps you need to relogin" nonsense. I wonder how much longer Fox will want to ingest money into this useless idea... I am actually surprised they managed to stay afloat till 2009.

You don't understand, because you clearly understand nothing about advertising. MySpace has a monthly comscore in the US of 70 million users. So what you call "dead" is used by nearly 1/4th of the US population that's old enough to "compute." Pull your head out of your floppy drive...

the "people you may know" is not new, nor is the logo... ! it's been used in various places around the site and in other myspace material for over a year (including crunchbase, doh!). this post is obviously just an attempt to throw in some weekly myspace bashing.

since there wasn't any actual news, might as well make some up.

it may have bigger implications than just a logo change.. i be they are paving a way of becoming more targeted rather than the current "blanket" model

Last year we launched a "New Strategy" for Microsoft. It secured feedback from actual MSFT employees. It gained support from MSFT employees, reporters and analysts.
The "New Strategy" was interviewed by various blogs. It also obtained a interview for PC Plus magazine.
Initially, MSFT was analyzed and a strategy was created. Over the course of a couple of months it secured feedback and comments from MSFT employees and consumers. The "New Strategy" was edited and revised. It ultimately secured support from employees, analysts and reporters.
MySpace was initially one of the premier sites. However, similar to MSFT it failed to innovate and examine its business model. Similar to MSFT losing to Google, MySpace has lost to Facebook.
However, MySpace is owned by News Corp. It has access to numerous properties that can be leveraged and synergies created. It can utilise special offers only through MySpace. It can leverage Fox movies, tv, through MySpace.
We are seeking to secure feedback from employees and users on how to improve MySpace.
We can be contacted at thecrandreagroup@hotmail.com

I think the Titanic analogy is apt. What's even better is that all the bands are still playing!
