I don't think any of these strategies make any sense but teams like marketing are usually overheads that are first to go. Unfortunately Marketing did a fantastic job, generated income, but wasn't on their strategic roadmap and we got cut. On a day to day basis we worked our asses off there - 60 hour work weeks and we were already under new positions from recent restructures that made us do 5 people's jobs... now those poor people left at the company are doing ALL of our work that we left behind without any handovers.
