Tonight at its event in San Francisco, Boxee showed off the first shots of what it’s working on for the beta release of its software. CEO Avner Ronen says Boxee users should expect this in September, though it could be pushed to October.
Forgive the slightly blurry shots, consider this a test of the iPhone 3GS camera at live events. (There are some slightly better ones at the bottom.)

Is this different from the revised interface you mentioned in the other post?
Nope different, you can see that at the top here http://www.tech...launch-tonight/
Oh OK, so what exactly is this then? The new interface for the beta while the other is for the ongoing alpha? If so, any notable new features for the beta?
The notable new feature will be that the beta actually works well (I hope).
How’s that memory consumption in the beta?
check out PLEX, its def ahead of boxee right now. But, boxee does look great, I am holding out for a bit.
Plex only runs on OSX.
If this sells as well as AppleTV is selling, put Boxee into deadpool right away.
Boxee runs on MUCH more than just the AppleTV. Some people need to educate themselves before they post stupid comments.
Stupid people should read the comments of others before they call the comment stupid… Steven did not say that Boxee runs on AppleTV, he suggested that if it sells as well (sarcasm, as AppleTV has not proven to be the next iDevice to make Apple bazillions) then you shouldn’t waste your time on it.
method.com did a great interface design for the first release…wonder if they were involved for the second
It is absolutely cool one….
I tried and had found it cool
The photos taken with the iphone camera don´t seem to be bad at all considering how dark it must have been…
I agree. looking at them on my big screen now, pretty good actually.
it was basically pitch black in there. a little mood lighting.

How about a 64-bit linux build.. already…
I would rather buy a used DVD than get all my movies by digital download.
The only counter case to this is digital downloads the way netflix does them.
But they seem to have only old films available for streaming.
I’ll stick to torrents\usenet, I can get what I want when I want it. tho it may take a while sometimes.
I have a very nice HTPC with 8tb of storage..
I never have want for something to see.
you can use boxee to download and play torrents…
Yeah, I’ll just be happy if they release a 64-bit build. I won’t start caring until then…
Boxee is going to spend 4 years in alpha and then finally release in a meaningful way to the general public just in time to not matter. I expect Itunes 9 or perhaps a Windows Media Player refresh to steal most the thunder, that and the seemingly hostile way places like hulu treat boxee, I just don’t see this really taking off without some serious funding/revenue model.
