Renowned celebrity blogger Perez Hilton (real name Mario Armando Lavandeira) was apparently assaulted by artist will.i.am, frontman of The Black Eyed Peas and his security guards, according to messages posted to his Twitter account. We’re pretty sure this really happened, although you never know.
Follow-up tweets read that the bleeding had stopped, the police had arrived and would investigate the case further, and that today would be a normal day at work for Lavandeira without any mention of the incident on his wildly popular blog until the authorities close up the investigation.

It’s remarkable that he chose to tweet out a message for help rather than contact the police directly (he has over 1 million followers on Twitter). From the looks of it, he needed to effectively ask people to stop calling the police because the department got flooded with incoming calls from his fans.
Or how Twitter can be both a way for people to call for help in real-time, but also a way for them to order a mob.

He obviously played it out as if the events were unfolding on Twitter to get his fans and everyone else excited about the story. I’m sure the first thing he did do was in fact call the emergency services if he did need them.

What Perez Hilton did is a good example of a publicity stunt. Except that he was the sole planner of everything. If he hadn’t been disrespectful to Will.I.am, nothing would’ve happened. I think Perez tweeted that because he could get the word out, as well as the sympathy of his pathetic fans, faster than will.i.am could (which proved to be true). If will.i.am was honest in his video about how Perez conducted himself, I’d say he deserved it. Whether it was a real beating is left for the cops to decide, but I’m sure Perez would have bled at even the most minor scuffle. Because he’s just such a sissy (not in reference to him being gay, but the fact that he hides behind his blog and being an ass on it).

If he was hurt he could have had someone at the SoHo Met Hotel call the police for him. What is really disgusting is that all of his lemmings were calling the Emergency Services and tying up the lines, which prevented really urgent calls from getting through.
And even though he SWEARS it was Will.i.am who hit him, he obviously lied because it was the band’s manager who was arrested for the assault.

I don’t twitter, I don’t even like it. But from his account he did call 911. First. They didn’t come. He was assaulted and had a right to make a report.
So then he left to go back to his hotel to try to get to a safe spot and wait for the police, and the people who assaulted him, followed him to the hotel.
At that point, if the police tell you they won’t come for awhile, and you are scared for your life, I guess tweeting would seem resource. In retrospect, keep in mind, the guy was assaulted and shook up. and being followed by the same thugs, in a group, who attacked him before.
