Was looking for a local dealer to install a trailer hitch the other day. I Bing-ed ‘drawtight’ (correct spelling is ‘draw-tite’). Bing’s 1st result was not only the correct site, but it had a link to their dealer locator page. Pretty damn good if you ask me.

Bing just can’t crawl like Google. Lots of flashy features, but the key to this market is in the core of the business. Serious competition will come in the form of a small company with new search methods, new technology, new ideas. Bing is a fairly lame rehash of Google’s established model.

Bing is a pretty viral name. But I think its ranking algorithm still isn’t as good as Google’s.

At this point they are both boring mega corporations to be hated but used by the masses .

Bing is being overrated purely because it’s Microsoft’s baby. If it was just one of hundreds of other search engines designed by nobody, it would not have anywhere near a fraction of the coverage that Bing has enjoyed.

Having said that, it offers a lot of features as mentioned in the article which are really useful for tracking that Google would do well to pick up on. A search on, for example, “DubLi”, reveals a far more interesting and neutral set of results than Google, as well as offering some interesting trending reports.

So I guess, as far as I’m concerned, the jury’s still out!

Bing is the best thing to come out of MS in a long time. The only problem I have is I end up playing around instead of getting what I need and moving on.

Wow That’s one good way to compare thw two. personally my first choice is google. like when i want to search for something, “let me google that”. that authority is something Bing should still work on.

First thing I see: Bing not available for my region.
If Microsoft wants to compete globally, having this sort of edge in a specific region will discourage people like me.

I agree. Also, I really do not see much of a difference between the results generated by either, but where Bing has got Google running is on travel, shopping, local search, and I dare say- Maps!

I like the new layout, but the searchresults are poor, and that’s an understatement. Microsoft realy needs to understand that in order to get ahead they have to improve the search results..
