this is such a piece of shit. nobody wants this, nobody cares, i looked at some photos, it had some fancy flash that made it really hard to use; frstrated me; pissed me off.

why will people use this? what for, we have flckr, facebook, a million other photosharing sites, even gettyimages.

I love how “full screen” doesn’t actually go full screen. Should just say “large”. Still, nice UI design even though it’s heavily borrowed from Apple.

I agree 100%. The fact that the founders were "using Wikipedia for background information but couldn’t find a comprehensive site that provided relevant photos to Wikipedia entries." tells me they're either liars or idiots. There are links to the sister project — Wikimedia Commons — all over Wikipedia, and Commons contains over four million media files, all of which are completely free to be reused by anyone. Now that's a real photo encyclopedia.

BTW: on the site it says that it was too difficult to put photo’s on wikipedia. If this guy really would mean good for humanity, he would build an open source desktop client to put images on Wikipedia.

So, someone is calling a site ‘Images for humanity’, but is still a company? It should be called ‘Images for my profit’.

These kind of things should be foundation-based. Not company-based.

If I wanted to share photo’s I will put them either on http://commons.wikimedia.org/ which is truly a ‘Images for humanity’, on Flickr when the images are not for humanity but for my friends or on Stock Exchange if I would like to make a buck.

I hope they do not succeed.
