What a load of garbage "journalism." Did you know Flash Player 3 isn't the latest version anymore? It seems some people are just so ideologically opposed to Flash they'll jump at any technology that might be able to compare to things it did 5 years ago and call it the latest "Flash killer. " Give me a break.

You can do all this stuff in Flash easily, the Flash Player *is* essentially video as webpage and you can interact directly with the DOM just like they are in this demo (only it's mostly pointless so not often done) -- you can do video tracking, video effects, modify the DOM on the fly, etc. The only difference is if you do it in the Flash Player it will actually work in all browsers, not differently in every browser.

Yet again, standards are claiming to have *finally* caught up to proprietary technology, yet nothing new is really being introduced here, just a way to avoid using the well tested methods to already do it. I don't mind such zealousy, but why pretend it's factual journalism? And these features aren't even scratching the surface of what the Flash Player can do.

Putting video aside for a moment, and thinking of synchronized multimedia in general, how does HTML5 intersect with SMIL? Is it (or will it be) possible to embed SMIL code within HTML5 source?
