No one.. oh come on - CNN sent journalists in to Iraq during the first gulf war - Reuters sent journalists in to Sierra Leone - Associated Press sent journalists in to the Indochina war

The only way for journalism to be conducted, frontline style, is to .. go to the frontline.

Grow up.

I was so saddened by the events that have occurred with Laura and Euna! THOSE POOR GIRLS , MUST BE SO SCARED!
Although if people were sheltered, like if in a cave, not being able to think for themselves from birth, being brainwashed, I guess its logical to say that they they would believe that justice was served. But regardless of ALL the lies, it doesn't make it right! These girls are human, and bleed blood like everyone else on the planet...Honestly, who can say that this is justice?
To be in prison for 12 yrs. hard labor, do they even have a past criminal record....NO!
A slap on the wrist with the camera film destroyed, or burst into flames and a fine is more understandable...not to mention prior to sentencing, they were probably straved and tortured, just for being an American. I think that would be enough punishment, eventhough, even that, is to harsh!I feel for these girls, and if I knew how, I WOULD start some sort of publicity revolution, or something........TO GET THESE GIRLS SOME HELP! I just don't know where to start....the people's voice is a very powerful incentive, but I wonder if this to far gone, would my voice even matter? WE ALL NEED TO BE THINKING, "WHAT IF THAT WAS ME OVER THERE?"

I am not pro american by any means but did they not break the law. You should be aware of the law where ever you are. U.S law is not universal and does not apply to the rest of the world. The sentence is unfair though and your probably right, but as reporters they should have known the risks.

@mike, they are not "millions of innocent people..." The millions of NK citizens are just as radical and evil as the NK leadership. Haven't you seen recent, random interviews of NK people on the streets? They are all fanatical followers of Kim Jong Ill and his father. They ALL want to destroy America.

I'm amazed by some of the remarks here stating that these women deserved the punishments and that the length of the punishments weren't long enough. There still exists some people who are willing to put their lives at risk for the sake of their fellow man. Some of you will be unable to fathom this concept for as long as you have enough distractions out there so you don't have to stop and reflect on the sad and pathetic state of your lives you'll be happy. Worry about what the line up on Tuesday night tv will be instead. Edmund Burke once wrote, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing". These women were exposing the ugly truth of a so called 'sovereign nation'. Should the views and actions of the third reich been ignored because it came from a soverign nation? Turn down the radio, turn off the tv, and unplug your computer for a moment. All that's left is silence which will be unbearable to some of you as you would have to confront your conscience for once instead of rambling off the first thing that pops in your head.
