Tesla, which has now delivered 500 Roadsters, will be opening several new sales showrooms this summer, the company says. Currently the company has showrooms only in California. Three of the new showrooms will be in Europe – London, Monaco and Munich. New York, Seattle, Chicago and Miami are also on the list.
The company says that the first Roadsters will be delivered to European buyers this summer. At least three Tesla buyers have exported their cars to Europe already, though (one each to Germany, Norway and Spain).
The company, which is now more valuable than General Motors, recently unveiled its second model, the Model S.
The company also says that it’s looking for showroom locations in Washington DC and Toronto.
I think I might be more valuable than GM right now. And I’m so broke I can’t even pay attention.
Didn’t Tesla just have some recall thing?
Yes, Tesla had a recall…a screw wasn’t tighten enough which could have caused accidents in the long run.
They’ll be trendy for awhile but ultimately no one can afford a high priced electric car in this economy. I wish them the best of luck but it doesn’t look good with other less expensive alternatives.

Wonder if they’ll strike more deals with the old car industry for their drive train or if they’ll try to go it ‘alone’ with their own end-product.

To succeed, this should be a volume car and less expensive. Great tech idea but pricing strategy can kill you. Cash flow will be an issue. Don’t create new showrooms or boutiques for this car. Use the existing network of dealerships and take advantage of the cash-for-clunkers bill in the US. Don’t wait, the big Asian and European manufacturers will eat you alive. Unless you are thinking in being an atractive acquisition target to cash out, act quickly. Partner with Chrysler and Fiat and take advantage of their dealer network in America and Europe. You will also benefit from the bailout.
