I’m not even sure what he’s talking about (this?), but this is too good not to post. The most brilliantly paranoid man on the Internet draws a line in the sand with our own MG Siegler.

Mike: Stop f*cking with THE INTERWEBS!
Mike starts lawyering for others?
RSS missed the bus, it could have been doing what twitter is doing now. Like “feed” from celebrities, NASA, or social circle etc.
But MGS complained teacher Mike and teacher becomes lawyer?
lol
That rediculous “RSS is dead” article on TechCrunch was obvious flame-bait. But this is a *BLOG* and it is entitled to have posts just for our amusement or “irritainment” every once in a while.
Here is one… case in point:
http://www.crun...ernova-of-suck/
LOL. Well to me, it keeps things from getting boring.
What’s this? Does this article needs to published on techcrunch. lol.
http://www.smartbloggerz.com
Seriously? You’re making an article out of this?
Like we already don’t have hundreds of bits of information to sieve through.
Come on, TC, grow up a bit.
make us. lol.
Michael, you’re almost 40 years old. What the hell is this 3 year old shit?
I refuse to be called childish by a man who’s blog is called “beer planet”
hahaha thats awesome
zing!
you’re not a married man, are you?
Beer, that famously childish drink
BURN! LOL!
Ethered
Damn, I have to get a life now that I spend mine typing here.
People should understand that if you start a fight with Michael, you’ll probably loose, so just don’t start it.
People should learn to spell lose.
Leave him alone, he’s only 16. The kids today can’t spell without the texting speak.
has techcrunch been hacked?
probably.
if someone is f**ing with RSS, I recommend saver sex – at least till they know each other better.
I also hope that RSS is hot (ahem pretty).
Can you introduce me to her?
I think RSS is male so drop the pretty talk
$40 says Feldman parodies this story on a video post
hope you took action.
fight! now!
What is RSS? And secondly, what is davewiner’s picture of?
I’m just going to assume you’re being sarcastic when you ask what RSS is.
Dave’s Twitter avatar is a Don Quixote illustration, which goes well with his personality.
He once reposted a link I sent him on Twitter, but without attribution. I replied “Thanks for the retweet. Might want to give attribution next time”. His response was that he wasn’t required to give attribution. I said “you’re right, you aren’t legally required, it’s just considered polite”. He said “please don’t send me any more links” and at some point he blocked me.
Of course he doesn’t protect his updates, so I can still view and search them, which turned up this nugget that he apparently deleted from his profile but still shows up in search (http://search.t...avewiner+idiots)
“BTW, every time TechCrunch talks about RSS they prove that they are: Complete. Technological. Idiots.”
BTW:
Awww, Yo Mama Fight!
Hilarious how you crunchbased him too.
Give me a call, I’ll explain.
no thanks. just send me a twitter.
just send me a twitter? send me a website?
Don’t you mean a tweet?
hah.
What if i want to download some internets, but the tubes are clogged up!?
that DM was intended for guy kawasaki, right?
Poking a stick at the old man, eh?
the “brilliantly paranoid man” link doesn’t work
Make us!
Michael, MG I want t-shirts!
I would buy one of those shirts today
does it have to have a picture of Dave Winer? He’d probably sue us.
there are pictures of him in the public domain which he doesn’t own. picture of him on the front with the text STOP FUCKING WITH RSS.
No! Just ‘make us’ on the front. Honestly this line is pure genius.
You should consider this, I would buy 10 t-shirts.
i doubt it.
Techcrunch is a joke. Micheal has nothing better to do.
yep.
At least it’s a funny joke
As someone who is named Michael, I am offended by your mangling of this boring and generic name.
God I love techcrunch, they call Dave out publically, mock him, but still link to his website
awww
yep. I definitely have nothing better to do.
Why don’t you leave us alone Mike? we have no beef with you, its with MG! just let us be, please?
Fine then – Make Me.
… LOL
lol a “BlogBy” by “Blangsters”
Hi Michael,
You know how to live.
Best wishes, Miguel, from Brazil
I fire up seesmic desktop, check my replies, my userlist and then do a live search on “tech” or “video” or “News”… Sorry Dave Winer…
When you are as powerful as Arrington you can do anything you like
gayest post ever. gay comments.
arrington = gay
winer = gay
so what are you trying to say, exactly?
That you are gay? You and your TWIT boy toy (MG) get it on…
I definitely laughed out loud at this comment… “I refuse to be called childish by a man who’s blog is called ‘beer planet’.”
amazing
Hahahaha, wasn’t Siegler the dude who said Twitter was replacing RSS? JOKEFIGHT FOR THE WIN
…Awww, it wasn’t Siegler.
That’s just mean then!
did he? that would explain some of this. not the crazy delusional part, but the rest of it.
I’m not on either side of the fence on this one, but seriously, since Twitter – My Google Reader/NetNewsWire are collecting dust.
That goes strictly for digestion of news. Syndication still needs RSS.
Well it wasn’t MG, but maybe Winer thought he was?
No matter what I did or didn’t say, is that any reason to send creepy, cryptic DMs? No.
It’s not ethical to publish private messages.
Of course not. I’m just looking for a method to the madness. You didn’t do anything wrong.
Also, publishing private messages isn’t really unethical; more awesome, really.
if someone sends us a message telling us something confidentially, we always respect that. if someone sends us a message threatening us, we publish it. clear line.
Well, honestly, it doesn’t sound threatening to me. Usually, if there’s the F word in a message, it’s venting, not threatening.
It’s a direct command and it implies an “or else”
Stop fucking with RSS…or else!
Damnit MG you beat me to it. That’s what I get for not being on the ball!
Well… MG did recently have the article about Tweetree, and linked to RSS Is Dead within the first paragraph, if not the first sentence. Probably that.
Uh.. keep us posted I guess? Dave looks like a “serious” guy. That DM is clearly a warning shot. ^_^
Oh, no. I’m with Dave Winer on this one! We can’t let RSS die.
We need RSS.
For things like RSSing the search results from Twitter of people who follow-block, so you can still conveniently read their tweets in a Google reader.
People who follow block like @davewiner.
i remember a blog on techcrunch the other day claiming RSS is DEAD. my immediate reaction was that either the blogger did not know what he was talking about or he was used to trashing one thing in order to making another thing look better. either way, that’s childish. RSS has become a major mechanism for data distribution and will get more and more use in the future.
Dave, are you reacting that blog or something else?
-aj chen
Yeah that’s the one. You know it would be one thing to say that RSS use is declining (I doubt that it is) or it has peaked or leveled off. But using the D-word, is what I was referring to in the DM to MG. It was meant to be a private thing, but now that it’s public, it’s not that much of a problem. It does accurately reflect my feeling about what TC has come to stand for in tech, that is, not very much.
yeah but it was steve gillmor that wrote that, not MG.
I can’t wait to see how Dave responds to Google Wave. My bet is that he says “This isn’t even XML!!”
BTW, the correct URL for my blog is scripting.com.
Mike, I guess this is a signal to all of them that anything you say to anyone in email is for publication. I have a few emails here from you that you really don’t want people to see. Just sayin. (Not planning on disclosing them, so don’t worry.)
Too bad it’s come to this. You guys love RSS, you use it all over the place. But then you take these really ugly cheap shots, I don’t know what the point is, but it only shows your hypocrisy. How many RSS links are there on this page alone?
Sorry, editing mistake — meant to say: “I guess this is a signal to all the people you email with that anything you say to anyone in an email is for publication.”
no, just the crazy shit you send.
Go ahead and do it! Don’t make the threat if you aren’t going to follow through. I doubt Mike could care less.
RSS rocks and will always be better then Twitter.
Yeah, ’cause Arrington’s really reacted well to veiled threats of blackmail in the past.
Good luck with that.
I love the new Michael Arrington
Stop fucking with twitter posts on tc
Techcrunch has the belief that they are so very good and we are so very bad.
They have this belief, that they can do no wrong and we do everything wrong.
They love Twitter, we hate Twitter, where is the democracy? where’s the fare play?
Shame on you Micheal Arrington, shame on you.
shame!
Aadriaaaaaaaaaaaan!!!!
You could at least site where you drew the inspiration for your above monologue from.
Rocky 4, Drago’s wife: You have this belief that you are better than us. You have this belief that this country is so very good and we are so very bad. You have this belief that you are so fair and we are so very cruel.
right. what?
oh nevermind. the other guy.
Rocky III,
Clubber Lang: My prediction?
Interviewer: Yes your prediction.
Clubber Lang: [Looks into the camera] Pain…
Weirdos….yes it was rocky…how clever….Mr. Bond!
It would be nice if TC could just reply to comments with YouTube inclusions
http://www.yout...h?v=Z1TxiVhrkZA
Websites are dictatorships by necessity. Experiments with democratically run websites rarely end well.
They DO end well. and quickly.
“Us make!” – Yoda
Hope this is a joke/hacker, but that doesn’t change the fact that Arrington is an ass.
I’ve been saying this since you had MG try and break into myspace. you guys are so gangster. I love it.. you guys are like Dre and snoop back in 94. nothin but a g thang baby! keep it up
very apt.
If you think RSS is dead, how come your feedburner count on every single page?? Can’t see your Twitter count anywhere..
Anyway, the 140 characters limit will kill Twitter sooner or later..
At least we are not yet limited offline to 140:
http://www.yout...h?v=s7oqUfe5pug
hell if I know. i never understand steve gillmor’s rants.
I have a sneaking suspicion even Steve doesn’t
Guess if you wonna show off who has a bigger one, RSS subscribers is still more important than T followers.
As it stands with Twitter replacing RSS; I -kinda- see it, but not really. Twitter allows for the link to be shortened, but I follow a fair amount of people and RSS also has a lot of advantages I prefer (for example, with a lot of RSS feeds I can read most of if not the entire article just right there in Google Reader; I can also watch flash vids in there if they’re embedded right).
As it stands with this, though, this situation is…quite odd. And quite entertaining. I’ll be in my bunk/I’ll have my popcorn buttered/etc etc etc.
I wonder if its related to occasionally inserting crunchgear / uk-techcrunch stuff into it ( none of which I mind )
w/e Dave is right, RSS will not die.Nor will Twitter replace it anytime soon and there is no way RSS will fade away, it may though get less popular when Twitter gets groups feature and sites create their own groups, tweeps join them and site owners tweet what they wrote plus @replies would act as comments on feeds.Hmmm…
Amen and thanks.
For what it is worth, I found this post through RSS. I also found the “RSS is dead” post through, you guessed it, RSS. It’s a valuable piece of infrastructure that moves information – saying it’s dead is like saying transportation is dead because you only like hanging out in one spot – a hasty generalization indeed.
no it’s like saying the horse and cart is dead
Agree to disagree.
Don’t you guys see that these two hooligans are making fun of us? Press your # key if you agree.
you’re a weiner
I have no idea what this is about but I found it hilarious
haha

best comment on the thread…
Is RSS dead totally?
What gets me is how people think it’s ok to DM messages like this when they’re on the relatively anonymous web. If they were sitting next to me, I’d punch them in their smug face or mess with their lunch in the fridge.
If you’re just being a jackass and coming across rude sometimes you get your dues. Dave, world, you’ve been served, now make the web a better place and stop ruining someone else’s day.
dave will never understand this.
This 140 characters things is really boring man!.
Are you talking to me?? Would you accept such a limit on email messages? on comments to Techcrunch? ob blog posts? NO! So why is it OK when
Twitter decides to do that?
Ooo, I like what you did there.
Regardless of one’s philosophy about the future of RSS, writing threatening DMs to people who you think are out to get you (or your product) is pretty paranoid.
Is it sad that I get my tech news from a blog that announced RSS is dead and twitter is replacing it?
If RSS’s fate is hanging on the thread of one critical post, then it might aswell be dead.
…and the puppet:

1:05 FTW
As a defender of Techcrunch I would like to expose myself
sorry, I pressed enter before i could finish my sentance.
I would like to expose myself as a fan and propose that that Mike and Dave have a duel on the lawn at the Googleplex at high noon on the day of our Independence.
This is the best error, even if it was intentional.
I spoke too soon…now THIS is the best comment on the thread! Comments FTW
See what you’ve done Mike? You’ve made people start exposing themselves…
Great.
This comment was worth reading another ridiculous post on TC. Say no to twitter.
Dave: just stop. you’ll do and say anything to get what you want. even lie. even delete previous messages and reverse your opinion.

http://www.tech...ly-to-everyone/
you have no integrity. you have no core ethics. it’s just all about you all the time.
This was a great read, really made the mid afternoon entertaining.
I just did…
If the W3C EOLs RSS, we TXT (not DM) TWTTR BIT.LY @VIP MG, TC RECs go CPC, and FB PAY goes LTS, we’d #ALL be BFFs.
TTYL,
LS
I see what you’re doing that. Cute.
I think this article was about generating comments and I am sorry to report I fell for it. So this is my last comment. I hate techcrunch! fool me once shame on you! fool me twice shame on me!
I thought RSS is already partially f***ed by Feedburner!!
your a tool, feedburner relies on FEEDs as in RSS…
idoit…
this post is funny as hell though
