I also need to search many times a day as part of how I make my living. And I am not saying Google doesn't do its job.

All I am saying is that sometimes you just don't get the result you are looking for. There is no"Aha" left in searching on Google.

[...] Inevitable comparisons are made between the hugely enthusiastic developer response (including from us at Zoho) to Google Wave yesterday with the relatively tepid reponse to Microsoft’s new search engine Bing. The real interesting contrast to us, as independent software developers, is the way developers responded to Silverlight as opposed to the reaction yesterday to Google Wave. Both Silverlight and Wave are aimed at taking the internet experience to the next level. To be perfectly honest, Silverlight is a great piece of technology. Google Wave, as yet, is not much more than a concept and an announcement… [...]

Reading through all the "pro Microsoft" comments is hilarious. Microsoft is pathetic. With all their money and years in the tech industry and Ballmer still F(*'d the Bing announcement. Once again they rename an online property further squandering their online branding.

Look, even in little Washington, NC - rural, small, southern everyone and I mean everyone uses Google.

But I am sure I'll love wave.

Ummm...okay. It would be the other way around. Since Google is making the source available, MS would develop their own wave service that integrates Bing.
Nice try, though.

Innovation does not occur in a vacuum. It usually is a response to what came before...even when it's proprietary (which Wave isn't).

I have to call Arrington out on this. He commented that his reason for writing this article is because he is excited about Wave and the innovation it brings. I am excited too -- I think Wave will shake things up -- but this article was not about Wave's innovation.

This article was about Wave upstaging Bing.

Why does it have to do that? Why does excitement about a product have to come at the expense of another? Not to mention, two entirely different products in two entirely different markets (communication vs. search).

I'm looking forward to Wave. I'm looking forward to Bing. Surely the two statements aren't mutually exclusive.

If Arrington's intent was to generate excitement for Wave, it was done poorly. From my reading, what he's actually done is cast Wave in a positive light at the expense of Bing which was cast in a negative light.

If you were really such a champion for tech...why do that?
