Actually, if you were even remotely concerned with facts, you'd realize that "liberal" welfare & jobs programs have been major successes in areas we're they're actually implemented fully. "Liberal" philosophies as they now stand have done more to advance human, civil, an environmental rights than any group. But then I doubt you're much concerned with those little values. Your cut-throat economics of "free markets" that favor the "individualism" of conglomerates isn't "compassion." It doesn't provide for a stable society and account for gaping disparities that arose from plutocracy and oppression. The fact that the wealthiest have gotten disproportionately wealthier and the poor are getting poorer under your "each to their own" model is damming.

No one philosophy is ideal. Capitalism is a healthy part of a good society just as much as socialism is. My guess is you don't even want a social health care program to protect all of our fellow human beings -- even though it's pro-business and costs less. You are not compassionate. You only want to think you are.

Keep crying about "liberal handouts" and turning a blind eye to rampant subsidization of corporations that grew like wildfire under Bush. Balanced economic models are not handouts. Progressive taxes are not handouts. Welfare programs are not handouts (you probably haven't been exposed to actual cases of families that had to fall back on welfare out of sheer need and were eventually able to empower themselves because of it). Social principles are not handouts. It is balance. Balance = empowerment.

To review:

Socialism: neither bad nor good
Capitalism: neither bad nor good:

Achieving sustainability w/ compassion requires a mix of socialism and capitalism that positively looks at the type of society we want to live in... one which either cares only about money or one which also accounts for basic human needs and progress for everyone. But the way you talk, you probably don't actually give a damn about anyone other than who /you/ have to be around. That's not compassion.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to amuse myself by reading an article about neocons attacking the word "empathy" as being codeword for "activist judges". What a joke.

Huffington Post bias? PHLEASEEE!!!! This whole crap came about when Sarah Palin could answer Katie Couric's magazine/newspaper question. So they decided to blame the frickin "liberal" media.

Here's how I see it:
Fox News reports bias.
And Huffington Post reports Fox News bias.

He's not implying anything. They're biased. Effectively, they openly admit it, and consider it not only acceptable, but honorable, because "they're right."

God help any "news" site that perpetuates the skewing of facts, ridiculous straw men, and nonstop verbal abuse that defines that site and its users. And that includes Carlson, if he screws this up.

"Look at the presidents.. all republican presidents have spent like wold champions reagan, bush etc"

Reagan, bush, etc? That's basically two of the three Republican presidents in office the last 30 years. How does that represent "all" Republican presidents over the last 150?

Additionally, it is true that Bush spent a lot of money unnecessarily (I would submit that Reagan's Congress were the spenders in the 80s, but never mind). His last budget had a $400b deficit.

Obama's first budget has a $1.8TRILLION deficit. his budget is TWICE his revenue, and I don't think universal health care has even been calculated yet.

There's spending, then there's spending.

You don't have to disregard human/societal suffering just to keep the government out of it.

That is a flawed equivocation that I am really tired of seeing.

That's the "True Scotsman" fallacy.

An even more stereotypically phrased version would be "Any TRUE capitalist is fiscally conservative."

"disregard human/societal suffering"

I'd like to audit the liberals' compassion for human/societal suffering over the last 75 years. You libs certainly have a noble goal that helps you sleep at night (and attack conservatives for not being "compassionate"), but what results have you produced?

How much poverty has been reduced by the War on Poverty? How much has the welfare safety net helped? Let me answer that for you: millions of voters living off the government teet, afraid of losing their handouts, continue to vote Democrat. You have less compassion than we. We actually believe in the individual and their ability to better themselves.

Oh? I didn't get that memo. Capitalism is neither conservative nor liberal. It doesn't dictate generosity nor compassion.

Though if you mean "true capitalists" as in "people who only care about money and disregard human/societal suffering", then "true capitalists" are also fiscally assholes.

Oh? I didn’t get that memo. Capitalism is neither conservative nor liberal. It doesn’t dictate generosity nor compassion.

Though if you mean “true capitalists” as in “people who only care about money and disregard human/societal suffering”, then “true capitalists” are also fiscally assholes.

A conservative site with no bias just like no spin zones and the fair and balance Fox news offers. Either Tucker is so stupid he does not know how bias works or his audience is too dumb to know any difference. After all its the same audience that watches the above and thinks its real.

This is actually true. The right-wing sites rely on their corporate sugar daddies for Wingnut Welfare, whereas the "left-wing" (actually mainstream) sites generally take their chances on the open market.
