Google’s logo for several of its products has been tweaked. The existing Google logo remains the same but the look of the product names have changed. Maps, Docs, News and others will be in a blue lowercase font to the right of the Google logo, instead of underneath. Google says that the logos will be the same size wherever they appear and will be consistent on international sites.
The logo changes for Google Maps, Google News, Google Docs and more will be implemented over the next few weeks. We also recently heard that Google is considering taking the beta off some of its product logos in the near future.

I don’t mind the post, but I mean, can’t you incorporate something extra? Just telling us the logos have changed slightly is ever so silly, however you could have beefed it up with some information on why, or even some information on past logos they’ve used, anything would have done.

Doesn’t seem like much of a change though. I guess the more important question to ask would be: how is the change going to make improve things with Google e.g. the product quality etc.?

Thanks…. contrary to what the people above are saying, this is useful for people who are interested in brands and brand development. I dont need a deep analysis of the logo here, it’s just nice to hear about it while I’m sipping my morning coffee.
If I had to throw in a 10-second guess, it’s that their brand gurus have said to keep the Google logo universal and consistent and not muddle it with other words. Hence the product and its country designation go separate from it.

Does anyone recognize that font? It’s not Interstate, Frutiger, or News Gothic.
I can’t figure it out and it’s really bothering me.
Logo remains strong, however the tag is weak. Rethinking the type would enchance the look at deliver a more powerful signature.
