I hate to break it to you all but the majority of Sockington’s “followers” are Spambots. They’re not real people! Didn’t anyone bother to look into this? Didn’t Jason Scott notice that almost all of his followers were blank avatars with zero updates? He has you all duped for sure!

Clearly you fail to understand cat-lover psychology. A cat with 500,000 followers? I’m surprised somebody hasn’t created a new social networking service that caters to such folk, and rounded up some venture capital. Missed. Opportunity.

My own cats, being somewhat more literary, prefer to blog.

I totally agree with you that it’s ridiculous, but the very nature of Twitter and, even, western culture, encourages this kind of behaviour. We have become obsessed with every little move that celebrities make…maybe we’re bored with that.
