Interesting site... however the coverage is very low... only 15 updates in past 7 hours...

We at noodls provide way better coverage (19,000+ sources across the globe with more than 5000+ releases every day) & way better content segmentation (based on country, city, sector/channel, language, time, etc)..

& not just that, noodls also provide a secure/anti-spam way to get connected with media & PR professionals across the globe.

You can create a news alert & receive official announcements in real time directly into your mailbox.

Try it yourself for free @ www.noodls.com

I love getting news from blogs, but I think that the slower pace at which traditional media releases stories has its benefits as well. It provides time for checking facts and getting background and commentary from relevant sources.

I'm not saying that traditional media are always more in-depth or accurate, but I do tend to trust articles in the NY Times more than I do the Huffington Post.

To see an example of what happens when newspapers do not apply high standards of accuracy and reliability, look to South Korea. Incorrect news is often reported by one newspaper and then repeated verbatim by the others because they didn't take the time to do any fact checking.

Speed is only one advantage of blogs as news sources. Another is the ability to do extremely in-depth reporting on specific topics, with reporters who have incredibly deep knowledge of a specific subject area.

what it has to do with twitter is that it replicates the old-skool wire service and the news model..."rip it off the wire and get it out there." twitterers and bloggers are the same breed, but don't have to worry about the junk that goes with....they, being independents, don't have the red tape and formalities...of course, they don't always have the benefit of accuracy and fact-checking necessarily. this nyt service is the gray lady's "same-but-different" mechanism...go girl!
