so the idea behind this is to gather public opinions about the subject of advertising action. in the next step, the opinions which doesn't fit in the marketeers strategy get filtered out.

i suppose thats what advertising is all about: show the good sides, hide the bad sides.

but why all the wordk and gather REAL opinions? if they are filtered, they aren't real either. so they could use some scripts that generate "opinions" by taking cool-sounding comments and replacing the subject by the product names.

the result would be the same.

All those things in adds are old junk. The tech of real interactive ad was made by russian company Actio.tv. It is not only hyper-video tech, but can include Google Adsense ads inside the video attached to the objects inside the video. Fie example: we see a car in the video, when we click on tires of the car - the Google Adsense appears in rollout window. Need you comments and suggestions. www.Actio.tv

The idea of interactive ads to engage the social media audience is intriguing.

Will be interesting to see which brands embrace this most quickly (Twitter brands like Virgin Air, JetBlue, Zappos) and HOW. Interactivity on Twitter is one thing, since it is fleeting and non-committal. Blending that with Social Media interactions, say on FB, is another. Those brands that let users share a piece of themselves with the brand and have the opportunity to be most embraced.

Jones Soda would be an excellent case study for Social Media, given how much that cult-ish community feels like they own the brand.

As long as you don't protect your updates, anything you say on twitter is public. What privacy are you concerned about?

The ONLY way that this will be of any value to the community & the people on the RECEIVING end of the Ads is to allow the people to search for the Ads they are looking for.

For example, you noted how companies would be able to weed out negative words. However, I think it's beneficial for a end user of the ad to see what those negative things are being said about the comment. So there should be an addition to allow the Ads that people are forced to see, the ability to interact with that ad. Ex. "Search For Bad Reviews of Dove Soap" --something like that.

I don't think privacy is really an issue provided they ask for your consent (which they do). Doesn't mean it won't weird people out at first.

Is privacy really an issue there? As long as I have a choice, I'm ok for a response I make to an ad to be shared with friends (like surveys). That's kinda cool actually.

Have to hand it to social media for finally starting to get social ads working in a practical way -- which is not just more stupid banner ads.
