In 1995 I never would have dreamed of having to learn to cojugate the compound word ASSHAT.

What if the US asshat market fails and the Chinese dominate asshat production?

But enough about the the current reality.

Melamine asshats rulez.

Yahoo Mail is much bigger among mainstream users, GMail is bigger among techies. There are, of course, a lot more mainstream users than techies. Among the people who read this site, however, I suspect GMail is bigger.

It's a similar story to IE vs. Firefox; IE still has 3 times as many users.

Personally, I use Gmail far more, though I maintain a yahoo account and a live account. There was a time that Yahoo Mail was way inferior to GMail, but they've greatly improved the product and it's probably just as good a product. But not better. Different and more traditional, definitely.

I do find Gmail still has better spam filters.

"Internet user since 1995"

Definitely shows how old you are. I don't care if your umbilical cord was actually a Cat. 5 Ethernet cable. Has nothing to do with how well you understand Internet. Oh, wait! I spoke too soon. You definitely got that one right. I used a bad Internet service to post the mail using Yahoo. And used a good one to post one using GMail. Thanks for the tip!

BTW, the email sent using Yahoo still hasn't arrived. May be they are only interested in keeping their old(er) users.

Again, I have TWO accounts and am a member of two Yahoogroups and I use one of those accounts for eBay. BOTH of them are imported to Hotmail/MSN.

I suggest you find a better internet service and by that I mean they who provide you with the actual internet, not the mail.

You are probably barking at the wrong tree and don't realize it.

Well, if you really understood my comment, I left Y! camp for GMail because of better features. If you say they now have the features, good for 'em. Imitation is the best form of flattery. If you think Yahoo is better, why not give us your sales pitch, than quips that we will definitely sneer at.

While you are at it, let's try functionality also. Try to send an email from Yahoo to one of other accounts. I did and am still waiting (15 mins) for the message to arrive. Did the same with GMail. Immediately there! within seconds.

Unlimited storage is more or less a given for the major mail providers, last time I bothered to look.

I don't care which one except that most of the spam that uses a major provider's name says Gmail or Googlemail. Based on that and the poo I dealt with, the phony 'invitation' scheme and Google's general level of disaffectation and incompetence (and search that has been much worse since 2001-02 but I still use it) I just get tired of Google.

Don't care if Y! mail is 100x the size of it. GMail features beat Y! mail hands down. Last I used to use Y!, they didn't have free pop/imap, message filtering, tags, conversation view, multiple accounts, offline usage, contacts import, chat, reply in a new window, tasks integration, forgotten attachment detector... and a load of others!

I, in fact, prefer GMail to my desktop mail software. And last I check 90% of my friends have migrated from other email services to GMail. The rest 10% are still living the hard life, searching for related messages in their inbox, and turning green every time I tell them about a new GMail feature.
