This is a cool idea. Even though Ashton has 1 million fans following him on Twitter not all those fans are equal. Many follow him just because of the recent press.

If Topfans can get the traffic, there is no question they will be able to do some pretty slick things down the line – working with celebrities to prioritize their fan base has some interesting potential.

eh, it’s not like many of these web 2.0 sites featured have started to make money in the consumer space.

Riya.com moved to Like.com, Odeo.com to twitter.com

So, I don’t see it as a definitive kiss of death; however, I think this shows the main zivity.com network is not likely to grow to justify the valuations…

I guess it does show their VCs believe in the team though.

the idea of harnessing the power of a celebrity fan base is intriguing. topfans has a running start. the site does a great job at proactively scraping other sites to get fans of nascent stars active immediately. i’m really interested to see how the incentive-based/vip privileges aspect of the site develops…

Interesting. This space feels really saturated right now. If they can succeed… I think it will really come down to an awareness not of celebrities but of the fan community niches and the communities that develop there.

this is a REALLY bad sign for Zivity. any start-up that launches a new company/site before their first business becomes successful means they are probably failing.
