It looks like the mobile page on Facebook’s developers wiki has been hacked defaced. Take a look here. I guess that is the downside of putting your developer site on a wiki. The question is why hasn’t anybody changed it back? Update: Someone is paying attention. Site is now back to normal.

But… Can you really “hack” a wiki since wikis are by their very nature open?
I just hacked this TechCrunch comment!
Weird.
Sucks. Isn’t this the same kind of basic exploitation phpbb suffered a few years back? You’d think facebook would be a little more secure than that.
How does one really “hack” a wiki? Just pop along, goto edit and revert history. This is the equiv. of logging into Wikipedia and changing an article.. no? Pointless report.
I Agree !!
This doesn’t count as being hacked! It’s a wiki. I could post anything on there that I wanted. Although it was fun to see the words “Facebook” and “hacked” in the headline.
yeah, changed it to defaced. everyone get back to work.
But seriously – is this really front page TechCrunch material? #fail
+1
well it’s facebook.. so it’s on techcrunch.
LOL, I cant believe this made the homepage of TechCruch.
You do realize that you can actually lock down a Wiki site, right? The fact that someone defaced FB’s Developer site means they failed to lock it down.
What would be the point of a Wiki with no “edit’ feature? Isn’t that the whole point?
It depends on what you want. It’s not all or nothing, and I would certainly assume FB did not want that!
Looks like Wikipedia has the same vulnerability…
Yeah, it’s a wiki. That’s just defaced, not hacked. It’s certainly easy enough to revert it to the previous version like I just did.
Terrible article, even changing it after the fact to acknowledge it’s a wiki doesn’t make it any less embarrassing.
This is a wiki. TechCrunch isn’t very tech-savvy about wikis eh? False alarm and a cheap way to gain traffic.
95% of pages on Wikipedia can be edited anonymously. Does that mean that Wikipedia is getting hacked?
This proves how badly facebook needs another round of funding. Seems like their server security software’s license wasnt renewed and the hackers got though. :-p
Wikis are open. This isn’t called hacking.
Hmm..and to change the article to acknowledge it is a wiki now. Micheal Arrington, please screen your writers.
Lol.. I read the headline and was like “WHAT?” and then was like “Ohh, its a wiki.”
Does anyone even try to hack a Wiki?
Don’t know when this appened but everything is back to normal… Since: Pointless article
Thanks for updating the title of this post. I captured the actual title that scared me! have a look here http://friendfe...-updated-their/
Still defaced:
http://wiki.dev...sh/ActionScript
So Wikipedia gets hacked every minute? Pathetic story.
pathetic.
thats life…
of all the startups clamoring for a small writeup on TC, this is what you guys choose to publish?
In soviet Wiki, your system hacks Streetc0d3r & Khe-Chi
I just hacked up a wiki’d hairball
Thanks for bringing this to our attention, TC. But as many others have noted, our developer site wasn’t hacked, our wiki was *edited*. I’m sure it’s not the only wiki to ever get “haX0red” by some kid with time to kill.
The vandalism occurred early this morning and has all been reverted, thanks in part to some watchful members of our community.
*yawn*
does anyone even develop on facebook anymore?
i’d like to announce the launch of my new venture WikiHack.com, along with a $10,000 contest to see what the best hacker can do to use their special super powers to edit the wiki and/or comment-overload the site.
the $10,000 will be awarded as soon as i’m able to use the wiki-generated user content to create $10,001 in revenue.
wtf.
Dave… you never cease to crack me up man
Really… how is this “news” ?
For what it’s worth, Wikipedia *still* gets emails from people alerting us to the terrible security hole, that you can click “Edit this page” and ACTUALLY CHANGE THE LIVE SITE!
Heh heh… what next? I can add a comment to TC, and hence hack it? *grin*
yeah, changed it to defaced. everyone get back to work.
It’s a wiki after all. What else do you guys expect.
hack?
Hacking Wiki 101. I wonder how/why these guys are called tech journalists… They don’t know simple and popular things like Wiki..
This happens much more often than you think – they just catch it fast. I’ve been monitoring most of the changes.
Nonstory: it’s a wiki. How many pages are being defaced per minute on Wikipedia, anyway?
Lame.
I just went on it and another “hacker” defaced the main page, so I reversed it back. Seriously putting h4×0rd message is seriously stupid and childish.
Wade: They get corrected instantly. The Developer Site was left like that for a significant period of time.
Yes, 2 hours. It happened early in the morning while I was still sleeping, which made it kinda hard to police.
I just hacked your mum
Poor Lena!
You guys have been waiting to tear a TechCrunch writer. I wonder why people still follow this blog if they hate the writers so much.
No one hates the writers. People just like to point out the severe contrast of perceived worth and actual value.
I agree a mistake was made but cant you see the viciousness of the attacks (comments)
I cannot do an @ sign to address you because like the rest of the cowards, you are anonymous!
Tóm lại là sao? Nói Tiếng Việt dùm tui đi mấy pa.
The person was still logged into facebook.
