Not sure who else to add to that group email? Gmail Labs now has a useful “suggest more recipients” feature that suggests contacts that you might want to include in a group email based on the people you’ve grouped together as email recipients in the past.
For example, if you often send family emails to your mother, father, husband, sister and brother, when you start composing an email to your mother and father, Gmail will suggest adding your sister, husband and brother. The feature is triggered only after you’ve added at least two recipients to the email.
To enable the feature, go to Gmail Labs and turn it on as a setting. This clever feature is just one of the many nifty innovations that has come out of Gmail Labs, including offline access, contact time zones, search suggestions, an undo button, multi-pane viewing, and many more.

Gmail. The best social app out there.
That might be stretching it “just a bit”.
You think? Even though I use facebook a lot, that is just for dicking around. For anything worthwhile I run right back to gmail. Maybe I’m just old school.
I thought “old” school was Yahoo?
Gmail is already slow to load, with its js files. More features = more js
Especially in combination with google reader.

not something i would really find useful..any tried it? how smart or dumb is this addon?
It’s pretty smart. Though I couldn’t get it to go off after only one recipient, I entered two people from my D&D group and it suggested the other three.
Very useful, considering it’s only a few clicks to enable.
Can Google brush my teeth in the morning for me too?
I’ll use it for sure. I have a group of friends that I always email about baseball for instance. I usually forget one or two of them because I’m just quickly sending an email. Now it’ll show me that I’ve forgotten one of them.
You may expect more from such a title."It’s 7:35, don’t you want to tell your boss you won’t be there in time?".
great feature, I love all these “plugins” that are being rolled out. Would love to see a story on how Gmail re did their software architecture and team culture to get these going.
Hi Rehan,
Good to see your post.

is it really hard to remember how many people are in your immediate family??
Hahahaha that was funny!
good one WISDOM_TOOTH…
I am not sure how this would be useful… sometimes (or I should say most of times) goog produces SHIT products with no value to consumers ….
just my 2 cents….
It’s just possible because of google’s latest "Artificial Intellegnce" tasked array system! CADIE..
Nice feature but it seems it is not working for bcc.
I usually have the family as a group, but this is a nice feature to have. One thing I am amazed with Gmail Labs is it doesn’t crash despite enabling all these features. I wish we could get them in Outlook or Thunderbird.
Cool feature! Just activated it.
I suspect that this will encourage another shift to dependency on technology, with pro’s and cons either way.
Apollo astronauts used to calculate payloads and trajectories with a pencil and pad, as could most for quite complex maths. Now if there isn’t a calculator with fresh batteries then many are done for.
Then came the typewriter, followed by word processors, with handwritten texts appearing as an almost insurnountable challenge for many.
Next it’s mobile phones and texting (or PC’s and Emails), killing the art of communication as direct conversation places people outside of their comfort zone.
…And now we have a cyber giant trying to do the thinking for us.
Mmmm… NOT good !
I’m curious how else they’re connecting this information on the backend and how it’ll be used for targeted marketing. While you’re logged into Google, could they serve up ads that are clicked by your group more often? Are they using it to help profile you as a consumer? Or other nefarious schemes… I mean clever marketing strategies. Or am I giving Google development too much credit and they can’t correlate that information?
Cool feature! I think I will add it to my gmail
Man that is Old School thinking ! I like it though .. Ive been doing that with Google and yahoo for longer then I’ve been alive. The funny thing is not a lot of people are familiar with that !

Cometh “The Matrix”, but some of us will be free

google will rule the world, one gmail lab feature at a time http://bit.ly/I9G0K
Do they include Homeland Security’s unlisted e-mail address? Oh wait… they do that for me.
Oh great, Google. Now the people who send stupid emails to people who aren’t interested have another way of making sure they can bother the shit out of everyone.
I have just tried that.. It seems like It just show most emailed persons on the list. once the list of names is over u need to add other contacts by your own.
secondly its not working for BCC and for CC its generating suggestion for TO box only. But still I would say thinking about this feature is gud. Its taking in account of users past activity as with other google products. Now I wonder why is there that every google product is keeping track of what people are doing. Firstly it was in search at least u can turn that off by signing out. Now these products there is no way to turn that off. yes of course through disabling that feature but mind you they are still keeping track of your past activity for long because suggestion start coming as soon as you enable this feature.
I would suggest Google please stop tracking user activities at every front. Don’t only think about your business expansion, give your business a human touch. People really don’t like if others are keeping track of them. You guys are day by day becoming Cyber spy. Your latest step toward this was Google latitude and people are unknowingly loving watever is coming their way.
PS.
Why don’t they provide simple list creation so that we can add friends in that list and can create multiple list. so even if this suggestion feature fails to give complete suggestion list will never fail. I think list feature is there in Yahoo mail from the start.
The “list” feature you speak of is in Contacts -> select a few people -> Groups [dropdown] -> Add to… -> New Group.
Excellent feature!!
helps me a lot remembering all these group-work assignment groups I have in my university.
Nice feature, I think I will add it to my gmail,
Google is the best, it has changed our lives.
Google just keeps getting better and better.
Nice feature, now they just need to introduce the ability to upload ourselves as attachments and we can deliver messages personally…
I love Gmail!
this feature seems still not avaible for me.
i don’t know why?
My Gmail account now reminds me of when I first discovered make-up. Try everything, and then spend the next few months trying to figure out what actually works. My account currently looks like Danny La Rue.
who is danny la rue?
