That idea is so ludicrous it made me spit milk out my nose.

Guys, when you’re thinking up a business model, it won’t sound ridiculous when it comes out of your mouth – that’s rule #1.

Running a business model up the flagpole when its as bad as this is not risk-free – it just lets everyone know you have completely run out of ideas and have succumbed to organizational hopelessness.

The gifts thing though, costing $1.. If they release 100,000 of a ‘gift’, and it all gets used, then essentially they made $100,000 from 1 image?

I’ve been given ‘gifts’ by my friends, which cost them $1 each, and when I look at the counters some say 52,000 left of 150,000.. So I don’t really think they are failing that much, still bringing them in a nice amount of cash from pointless little images that probably took a designer a day to churn out..

Do you realize once FB opens this feature up to platform developers FB will make a cut on every transaction developers run? This may look “stupid” on the surface, but there is a clear path to money here.
