Everybody’s doing it. Even YouTube has succumbed to Twitter mania. Below every video if you click on the “Share” link you will find three options: MySpace, Facebook, and now Twitter. You can expand the box for even more sharing options, but those are the main three and Twitter was just recently added.
Clicking on the Twitter button opens a pop-up window that takes you to your Twitter account and fills in a Tweet telling your followers to “check out this video,” along with the title and URL. The URL is not shortened, but YouTube is working on that. (Youtube URLs are short anyway, so it is not a huge issue). Adding Twitter as one of the key sharing options is a no-brainer. Now, if they could actually embed the videos in the Twitter stream like you can on Facebook and MySpace, that would be something.
YouTube announced some other tweaks today as well. The upload status bar is now fully rolled out. You can watch lectures and educational videos on YYouTube EDU, and it updated its mobile landing page and simplified the process of uploading a video from your phone to YouTube.

what happens if the video title is longer than 140 characters?
you can shorten it. Basically, it autofills your Tweet, but you still have to hit “update.”
true, but its a drag. you have to spend time shortening the message which takes away from the “whole experience”
I use Tweetdeck, so this feature is not needed for me, I just copy and paste the link, and write a short message, attached link, bamm, done.
I disagree with it taking away from the experience however, I’m happy that Google is on board with what is happening around them.
Good work.
Well never noticed that they don’t have a twitter button till yet. But still it’s good that they added it now and will soon be helpful for them.

why cant we get myspace up here sometimes its not like its going to stop the students from not getting our work done because half of the time we will not even going to be able to get on the computer
I got no twatterhead on the buzz in my YouTube.
You wish your head had some too!
I’ve been writing to Youtube about this since before they added the ‘new’ share features.
so it’s your fault. Gotcha
nice, maybe others will open up.
The few times I’ve been on YouTube and wanted to share a video I’ve needed a link like this. Glad to see they are catching on and making it easier for users to spread videos. Props to YouTube for that.
I agree. But it’s not surprising that YouTube jumped on the bandwagon. It was just a matter of time. Soon they’ll be one for MySpace and Facebook.
nice, it would be easy to share video with twitter followers.
I think it’s another indication that the simple ways that twitter connects people is very powerful. It’s turning into a personal CRM system for people, a lot of which is very much below the radar.
I would like YouTube videos that I watch -> to be scrobbled in Last.Fm also!
Second that. I was thinking about the same thing the other day.
On top of that… I have wanted a repeat button on YouTube for years… do you know how annoying it is to manually replay your favorite songs over and over again…?
I never use buttons like this. I’d rather just use Ping.fm so it goes to all my accounts at once. Why share it in just one place?
about time..LOL
I’d use it. Some things that would be cool to my Twitter audience aren’t for FB or LinkedIn.
Hi Erick –
The YouTube “Share” links change depending on your country setting. For example, if you set your country on YouTube to India, the links default to Orkut, Facebook, and MySpace.
makes sense. Sharing videos on Orkut is very popular in India. Probably more than on facebook. And twitter is relatively unknown.
Kidsss.. they dont know…
sorry intended to say “Teens”
YouTube too? I meant that in a good way, that is. I wonder who’s next. ^^ There goes the little birdie.

Awesome!
If you use PowerTwitter from 83degrees, all videos and photos get automatically embedded in your Twitter stream.
but i cnt see any Twitter button
no Twitter link here in Oz either.
This is awesome!
Google will buy Twitter on Q2, I’m telling you
Why buy something that
a) costs little to build – and build better
b) has a very small user community
c) has no business model
Sure, they have press, but that is about it. At the end of the day, the opinions of a bunch of bloggers mean nothing. If Twitter gets purchased by Google for a large sum of money, I will lose complete faith in the American economy.
Google and Facebook already tried. And now that Twitter is launching a paid Pro version this year it looks like they plan to stick it out.
On the contrary, had Google Twitter in its sights in Q2, wouldn’t it make more sense to first snap up the bird, and then add the button, rather than the other way around? The acquisition cost would then be less.
Convenience is essential!!! OK!
Hey wow…thats great!
at last they admit who is the big boys here
What’s Twitter?

At least one of the apps on my Twitterhood info page, I think it’s Tweetree, embeds videos in the tweetstream automatically already. For some of us, though, automatic inclusion of video in the Twitter tweet stream, whether wanted or not, would be a nuisance and put us off Twitter – so I hope it will be a selectable option if they do decide to include it!
Has Google Pwnd Twitter? http://sn.im/GooglePwnsTwitter
a great move.. this really confirms how popular twitter has become.
They should add a “Most Twitted” video list
gubatron: @youtube @google Check out http://www.twitmatic.com/ youtube should have something like this, maybe “The Most Twitted”

good news
What happened to Jaiku?
What no jaiku link? haha
That’s a good feature YouTube. Yes Erick Twitter mania is every where on the web world.
Here is my post on this Twitter button on YouTube
Twitter is definitely expanding all over the internet! It’s great to see and it’s definitely changing the way we use social media for the better! I am a huge supporter of Twitter and I really like the recognition they have received.
yeeeeeeeeeee
yes!!!!
Interesting that it doesn’t work when you’re logged in.
I couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t seeing it. Logged out and voila. It appeared. Logged back in and Share on Twitter disappeared.
Ash,
There’s a link to the right of send video, MySpace, and and Facebook titled “more share options”. Click that and you’ll see Twitter when logged in.
I didn’t notice that until I saw a Digg of this article. That Twitter button in YouTube is really cool!
That’s nice find,as Twitter getting more popular YouTube adds sharing Videos links to Twitter.
I must say, I would also expect Google to make a move on Twitter. I think Twitter is the perfect match for Google, and it’s certainly easier too se a business model in Twitter than it is with Facebook.
This will be a handy addition I would say.
Twitter + video = Tumblr
not in india
everyone is kissing twitters ass, get a life people!
twitter.com/shantkiraz (add me)
A nice feature, but one that still needs to be part of an overall content promotion strategy. Too many brands and businesses just post videos on YouTube and hope they go viral.
Granted, at the end of the day, your “fans” are still your best source for promoting your videos online and a Twitter button on your YouTube videos can help. But if you really want to build your brand and drive revenue to your business, there better be more to your strategy.

yeaaahh
I love this news, now i can promote my twitter even more with this
Hi
Interesting post. I use quite a lot at least the Facebook button on youtube or similar websites.. but somehow I don’t stick around Twitter that much. Maybe because I don’t have many friends using it.. and updating the status on Facebook gives more feedback
But apparently people love Twitter, I didn’t even noticed that I have plenty of visitors from google to my milkaddict.com website to my “Twitter button” post
