I may have missed something but I believe that this “Pet Airways” company might be forgetting one very important thing…. All airlines in the United States are required to get approval from the FAA and DOT before they can operate. Pet Airways has submitted no such documents to the FAA or DOT. Pet Airways currently does not have the regulatory approval needed to operate and nothing suggests that they plan on getting approval any time soon.

This seems very odd, and possibly a hoax. I would think that such an airline would require certification by the FAA as either a Part 121 or Part 135 air carrier, and I could find no such certification on the FAA’s site. Moreover, they say they’re operating a mix of prop and jet aircraft, which seems like it’d be expensive to operate and certify captains across various types. And 20 planes for a start-up operation? That’s a lot, and they’re not serving many destinations for such a large fleet.

Their domain name is registered through a proxy as well.

I agree w/ Johnny. Many dog owners in general are great at letting their obnoxious little family members annoy others with their pooping, barking, intimidation, etc.

Agree with you 100%, Michael. Question for you, Johnny: Can you recall ever being disturbed by a dog in-cabin? Chances are you did not even know the animal was on board. The pets that fly are almost always very well-behaved – which is more than I can say for 90% of the kids flying.

Yes! And, what I love most about it: They still count your pet as a “bag” so with the limitation of only being allowed 2 carry-ons, you are basically forced to check your bag (if you are carrying a purse)! My question: Either the pet is a passenger (hence, the $150 airfare) or a bag, but it can’t be BOTH can it???

I have been waiting for years for a service like this. I would pay much more than $150 per pet to get from the East Coast to West. If I wasn’t raising funds on my own, I would invest in this. Hopefully it is 1. a real co and 2. has a chance. Tertiary market airports, anyone?

We are two dogs who HATE flying – we have don eit four times and it is too scary. Who cares if this loses some humans a bit of cash as long as the dogs are happy

It’s a solid idea. If you love your pet, why would you put them in a cargo hold that may or may not be climate/pressure controlled? I’ve heard of automobile based pet transportation services, so why not via air? It won’t have the largest customer based, but it’ll have a loyal one.

This is an awesome idea. Too many large dogs die in the cargo hold of regular flights. I hope they succeed.

There is no way this is a hoax, unless they bothered to incorporate a company, create a large web site, get a valid SSL certificate in their company name, get a credit card processing facility, sign up to an affiliate program and convince a bunch of people to update their LinkedIn profiles just for a laugh.
