Any of you folks use bit.ly recently? Yeah, I thought so. Looks like people don't mind using minor TLDs, after all.

Looks like most of the bias here against .eco is political. There's no compelling reason not to do this, and I expect it will fly.

I don't really understand the value added from this. You can accomplish the same task with tools already available. Unless your goal is to profit from .eco domains of course. Al gore's involvement doesn't inspire confidence in this arena; that or I'm just a natural skeptic. I'll be using <a href="http://www.justaskgemalto.com/" rel="nofollow">this*</a> digital security site to research any new offerings/sites from this if it comes to exist.

Hmmm, eco. huh?

Looks like just.a-d.eco/ration to me.

But however, it takes strong nerves to get on that, because over the last years the whole domain-sales-ritual gave me the feeling we're growing backwards in time while growin' up. Explained: The internet is fullfilled with the heck of a lode of crap. Sorry to say that, might be new to some of you.
And when i look at the most sites, especially those 'zillion visitors per month'-ones i'm wondering how many nuclear-reactors are just build to feed these mass-murdering-megabyte-monsters of stone-age-old-not-even-html-pages everyone wants to look at due to the fact anyone looks at it.
Or take the leader in the what-you-see-you-would-get-if-you-were-wit-but-we-find-it-useful-to-let-you-load-that-not-even-funny-bad-compressed-and-eye-ditching-pixel-jam-we-call-video- ... - ... - ... -tube;

uhem...

Back to the point:
what about getting back to USE the NET by starting with a special category, followed by a dot, get into detail, followed by a dot, get further into detail, followed by a dot, etc. type of structure, we amazingly effective use in all kinds of bureaus and even at home. And by the way is used in any given good programming language to adress the things needed.

Practically, it never made sense to use domains for regions. This kind of information is absolutely senseless and lacks of any value, because there is no code in the back, that checks if i'm writing in GErman when i have my page running on an .de-Domain.

Okay '.eco' would be slightly informative in aspect of sortable to the mind. But '.mobi'?

Forget about that crap! Take the cheapest one you can get and then feed your possible users or even clients with semantic code that contains all info needed by humans & search engines.

Anything else is just.stoop.it?

Excuses for my lack of niceness when i stumble.upon these kind of del.icio.us articles.

Because deep in my mind it let's me laugh, really; i hear the 'eco'.
I don't know why my mouth is not moving and my lungs won't pump anymore. Ah i forgot, it's a new day, mankind just build another zillion-server-cluster...

Recent global warming related activities seem some kind of religious cult.
So, they just only want new money collecting machine for their propaganda.

I will ignore such domains.

What are the ethical limitations to using the gTLD .org?

Do you think it should be reserved for non-profits and/or open source?

Craigslist.org is neither. Is this a misuse?

<strong>What are the ethical limitations of using the gTLD .org?</strong>

Craigslist.org is for-profit & it's not open source. Do you (TC readers) consider this a misuse? Why? or why not?

Why is global warming such a huge deal for these people? Millions of people are dying from global hunger, and they're concerned about polar bears and melting ice caps. Give me a break. All these greenies need to re-focus their energy into helping people, not trees.

mike, I am surprised to hear you say that.

when (not if) the first one or two large companies start using their own name to manage their namespace things will change VERY quickly. a single .ibm and things will be very different.
