Evri is funded by Paul Allen and his track record on startups is not good. He's lost a lot of money. Looks like he's going to lose a ton on Evri. They seem to be so taken with the "coolness" of what they're doing that they don't seem to care whether or not it's useful. Why should people use Evri rather than Google. They just can't make a case for it. Well they're having fun at Evri I guess that's what they care about -- not being useful.

I've been using Ensembli for a while, and it took only a short time to begin to get the results I wanted from it once I realised how it works with keywords. It has proved to be a useful tool, now bringing results from sources that I wouldn't have found by myself. It's well designed with an easy to use interface too. I look forward to seeing Ensembli grow further, as to me it is a valuable tool.

Just my little comment: 1. The simple lay out and usage reflect exactly what Ensembli is aiming at: Refining / filtering available information on a dedicated topic and delivering it to you automatically : Trash -free valuable filtered information allowing the user to spend its time otherwise than filtering reuslts of a search engine. I do not agree with the authors comment at all.
2. It is a real artificial intelligence in that it broadens its results according to your 'search topics' and I have never been deceived by the value of the information received. I strongly recommend to use it as daily tool to help gathering the right information at the right moment. Thank you, Ensembli!

I think Al summed it up, if you want every headline then use a pure search engine, if you want a way of more intelligently filtering through content to identify stuff of genuine interest then something like ensembli is a good start. The point is that pure search can throw up so much cr*p that it's time consuming (and difficult in many cases) to find the proverbial needle in the haystack. Ensembli is, in my experience, going in the right direction where given enough input/time it will make the needle bigger and the haystack smaller!

I can’t comment on Evri, but I have been using Ensembli for a couple of months now, and I love it! I’ve defined a number of targeted search topics, and Ensembli is sending me relevant articles and regular updates on these topics. As a journalist, I need to keep abreast on the latest developments in specific areas, and Ensembli is helping me to do that in a most convenient, time-saving manner. And with time, the results have become even more targeted. In short: Ensembli's making my life easier, and I’ve started recommending it to colleagues and friends.

The comment that Ensembli headlines are not "comprehensive or up to date" reflects a google mentality. If I want instant ( and questionable ) results and a million pages to wade through I'll use a search engine. If I want useful results that reflect what I actually want to read about then it's Ensembli every time. As other posters have said, give it time, let it learn what you want, and it delivers the goods.

not tried evri yet but I use ensembli. Its important to remember that its in order of relevance not release. Something released a week ago can still be more relevant to you in that topic than something released today.

It works for me, over time it has refined and filtered my results, saves me loads of time sifting through stuff, or trying to find a decent source for info.

I found Ensembli worked well once you gave it the right keywords to work with, gave me lots of info from places I wouldn't have thought to look and became more useful and sent me a wider search the more I used it.

One thing not mentioned here is the Evri toolbar they just announced: http://tinyurl.com/bbb6gb . I found this really cool. It works pretty well, especially when I'm reading news articles. It basically highlights all the things I'm looking at and lets me find out what something is and moer without having to go anywhere.

At first I thought that Ensembli wasn't doing it for me, but stuck with it if you tell it what you don't like it appears to be self learning and comes up with the goods saves me a lot of effort searching you just have to give it a chance to do it's work

I've been using Ensembli for a couple of weeks now and found it very useful. After refining my keywords it came up with many topics I wouldn't have found otherwise.
Give it go.

Part of the Ensembli's technology is that it refines the results based on your usage- it's worth sticking with it to see the effect. After all, there'll always be "false positives" with anything that isn't based on human editing!
