Sedo Pushes For More U.S. Domain Parking Business With RevenueDirect Acquisition
by Robin Wauters on February 24, 2009

Online domain name marketplace Sedo has acquired RevenueDirect, a domain parking and monetization service, from its parent company and registrar Dotster. Sedo, itself owned by the German internet marketing and media company AdLINK Group, is pushing for a bigger foothold inside the United States as it does in the rest of the world.

As DomainNameWire points out, the deal makes sense because Sedo is a significant Google advertising partner across the globe, while RevenueDirect has a similarly strong relationship with the search and online advertising giant in the U.S. Sedo also closed a strategic partnership with Dotster to further integrate its services into their registration and inventory management solutions.

The financial terms of the acquisition remain undisclosed.

  • so true, Im agree with the post

  • Never a huge fan of Dotster. Sedo should have tried to pick up TrafficZ instead. Although maybe isn’t possible since Z uses a Yahoo! feed. For those who aren’t offering up something more than just ad placement, this is a business that is getting smaller every day.

    • i know you are correct pillman. there is point zero user engagement for these scatter brained domain name parking lots. they will eventually become ghost lots. dim wit addense cant hold these pages together forever. parking lots lack innovation. you only need less than a thousand premium domains that are all common sense, natural language, niche related and you will have created a “master location network”. a custom location network can offer custom email, subsites and social applications for user engagement far beyond those of addense supported parking lots.

      AdvertisingLocator.com – promote yourself

      • You are a TOOL your “locators” are crap and generate you ZERO funds…

        they don’t even work

AdvertisingLocator.com takes me to a site that has nothing to do with advertising, it takes me to some crap site with a video about a candlight vidule…. your “master location network” sucks…

Google, Search ME, Yahoo, Live, those all seem to locate things pretty well… Can’t seem to locate shit with your sites////

  • I have half of my domains on SEDO and the other half on name drive. Thus far Name Drive has paid me alot more in revenues. I strongly believe Name Drive would have been a better choice.

  • But with adsense parking for domains made available by Google, wouldn’t this be a conflict of interest?

    TechFilipino

  • This is a very smart strategic move of Sedo. Lets see how this will influence the Sedo domain marketplace…

  • It’s clear the domain name people spend nothing on marketing
    Godaddy has http://tdnam.com

SEDO, what the hell are these names supposed to mean?

They would be so much more successful if they were marketed correctly.

    TDNAM ???

Bob Parsons must have been on crack that day.

  • they are namedrive.com an the lazydomainer that has similar product, however,I still dont know what “make sense”in making money with parking domain.because most of the domain parking is poor design and only has LiNK and link inside the directory ,nothing else,as visitor ,I really dislike kind of domain that feel nothing but Link to other stuff

  • Domain parking services should be nuked. Domain parking services and Google are killing the internet by allowing dumb people to horde domains without any intention of using them

    • Well, I intend to use all my domains! Either to develop them or to sell them…. in the meanwhile, I keep most of them parked.

      • Domain name hoarders make DN system impractical over the long term. You end up with a ridiculous name (mywebsiteinthetubes.com), or have a significant barrier to entry (paying off a hoarder). Is that what was intended when domain name system was created? Of course not. There needs to be some monetary incentive to reduce the holding so many domain names.

  • I’ve been a happy customer of Sedo. They’re earning me good money especially through their great domain sales tools – in parking they’re only slightly better than others, but they are quite good with all international traffic.

  • It could be a better move if they choose Parked.com instead of revenuedirect.

Google already providing direct feed and Sedo currently using Google feed. Parked.com is using Yahoo and preferred choice in domain industry.

    IMHO,
    EM @ KING.NET

  • Parked.com pick and choose their customers=not good for business.

Sedo support is a joke and where the hell they get their whois info is beyond me,i have to keep sending the idiots a link to wois.sc to proove the domain is mine.Thick as shit !

  • Your memory doesn’t serve you right.
    BTW I love your blog!

  • So ive been doing research all day after driving traffic to my lesbianchix.com site. Its parked at Sedo, and the first few clicks generated like .09 to .15 cents a click, since then every click generates .02. 2 cents is not worth my time. Even though the click through rate is 40%. Ive heard good things about the other sites such as Parked.com, namedrive.com, and fabulous and my site is moving pronto. They are robbing me at Sedo.
