Just like there are still people who don’t tweet because (1) they don’t know what twitter is or (2) they don’t see a point to (or fail to see the amount of reach they could potentially have in) microblogging. The same thing, there will be people who won’t see a point to 12 seconds, and they have every right to see it that way. But seriously, don’t knock things like twitter and 12seconds until you’ve tried it. Read up on the potential of microblogging today. Pay particular attention to the fact that news now break FIRST on twitter and I see a HUGE potential of news being discussed on 12seconds, too. An average TV report lasts 60 seconds, commentaries are 12 seconds or even shorter than that. Keep an open midn folks. Let’s agree to disagree. I for one love both twitter and 12seconds and I think the union between TweetDeck & 12secs is awesome.

Yeah, it’s pretty obvious that every commenter on here who’s against the 12 seconds idea has never actually tried to use the service. That’s fairly clear.

The entire point is the challenge of limiting yourself to a 12-second post. I spend some time poking around seesmic sometimes, and am always really annoyed at how long-winded everyone is. If I wanted to watch a video of people going on and on and on and on about something, I’d cruise You Tube.

Having a 12 second limit really pushes people to be interesting and funny, and it’s immediately addicting. Bonus, it’s a rad community. *shrug*

I challenge naysayers to 12 about how much 12ing sucks. Betcha can’t post just one!

I think for the people who think the length of 12 seconds is limiting, haven’t tried to use the service. Some amazing things can be done in that time. I’m always impressed what the users (like kendraschaefer and thechaz) put out there. It is also a fun way to just say hi to others and participate in the daily challenges.

12seconds has a strong community feel and in my opinion is VERY addicting. Having the easy access to make a video (and watch videos) without having to leave TweetDeck is awesome.

I am shocked by the (lack of) long term vision of these people. Everything around us indicates that we’re rapidly moving towards unlimited mobile internet and these guys are working – and ecstatic to do so, mind you – on an app limiting video to 12 seconds?!
Come on already!

Putting an app together is not that hard. Making a business is difficult.

I feel that they have just avoided the hard work: I really fail to see any business model here …

All of these service and engineers cost money. How is this service ever going to even pay for the salary of 1 employee, not to mention server and bandwidth costs?

I think this is a good idea although I wish it was longer than 12 seconds. People who use Twitter will definitely be using this to their advantage.

I agree. I think Sol’s idea with the 12 second limitation is a benefit. I just took a look at Qik and I’m not so sure I’d have the patience to watch somebody open an Amazon package for 20 minutes.

12seconds is unlike any other video site. Having just 12 seconds to get your point across is an incredible motivational tool. Some of the best 12ers have the timing down and post some awesome stuff. Now with the Tweetdeck integration all my twitter and 12er friends can be even more connected.

I really like seeing 12seconds.tv get some well-deserved attention. I’ve been a 12s user for several weeks, and that site is everything Web 2.0 is supposed to be: well-designed, well-presented, easy to use, social, engaging, and most importantly, a valuable procrastination tool.
