How did the author manage to refer to "Yammer" for so so many times in an article that should be providing information regarding Present.ly? TechCrunch has a secret crush on Yammer - I really would enjoy more unbias news. Thanks!

We recently chose Present.ly over Yammer for the simple fact that it allows for users to have e-mails outside of the domain (with an invite). It can be hosted or on-premise. It supported file attachments (now yammer does too). I found it to me more feature rich, with a less cool name.

Microblogging has been a challenge to implement with non-technical folk, but has helped a ton in creating new lines of communication.

Present.ly's AIR app is an epic fail (on Windows XP at least); try testing it out without an account (or just by not choosing to connect). You can't close the Save & Connect window (you can close the app but the window stays open). For fun try right-clicking in the taskbar to close the remaining Save & Connect window (make sure you have the task manager open).

Present.ly has a group functionality, built-in tinyURL functionality, attachments, and extra space for text/code attachments.

You can see some of it in action on the video section of the site.

We also provide a full behind the firewall installation for those who opt for a non SaaS.

I'm sure they'll do something like Yammer where you have to pay to get certain features of it.

At our startup, we use Yammer all the time..

How do you compare Present.ly with Yammer? You say desktop application might persuade to try Present.ly? Yammer also has desktop application.

Wow. Those photos show in no uncertain terms that RIM is far behind the curve with respect to UI.
