How about forget which apps they can do offline on my PC, and tell me when they can get GEARS on my iPhone! I want READER offline on my iPhone…what else am i supposed to do while disconnected on the subway for 20 minutes every morning.

There is not really any great google app. We are using the aps but often the crash or are realy realy slow!

However I think this development might be intresting in the future!

Just build an app already.

Bundle it with the Google Toolbar if it needs revenue associated with the spend.

Yes, the technology in browsers is improving to somewhat match/eventually match the desktop.
That doesn’t mean I want to run Photoshop or iTunes in a browser. Connect them to the internet, even have them streamed from a server, but the *modality* of desktop application usage isn’t going away.

Depending on your situation it actually makes a lot of sense. The integrated gMail client with audio video IM, calendar and docs, and extensible gadgets is a lot more enticing to many IT shops who want to avoid paying the MS tax and get further away from the costs of supporting local applications.

I’ll give you a reason. If you travel a lot…it is a great way to catch up on emails and clear out that inbox. I used to do that with Outlook when I was with a bigger company. Now that I have started my own company, Google apps is a great time and money saver. This feature just makes it better.

Offline Gmail did not make sense….almost everybody I know either uses Thunderfird (Firefox fans) or Outlook…and the Calender is no exception

may be google has too much money they want to spend….

I don’t get all this offline hype. If I want emails offline I will use a desktop application (ala Outlook or Thunderbird), both of those also offe calendars offline, and Thunderbird has plugins that allow it to sync to an online DB.
