It’s not pointless who those who like to organize their thoughts visually. And I believe this iPhone app is meant to augment the full web-based MindMeister service. In other words, it’s not supposed to be a stand-alone mobile app.

Regarding the usefulness of mindmapping itself, though, that is a larger issue and really depends on who is using it and why. The most popular use cases for mindmapping tools are for initiating projects, creating and maintaining task lists, brainstorming, setting agendas and running meetings, and taking notes. However, there are about a-million-and-one things you can do with mindmapping tools. So, while mindmapping is certainly not for everyone (e.g. rigid and super-linear people), it is anything but pointless.
