I applaud Obama for his use of technology. I think that it gave him a good advantage during the campaign season. Now that he is in office however, I think that he should back off some of the trendy things like twitter, youtube, and facebook. There are simply to many security risk. Even though it is very unlikely that an harm would come from him using them, the threat is still there.

Obama won with 53% and it was a big win for progressives. But that doesn’t means there’s a huge public mandate for everything you want. There’s also this little thing called Congress and the constitutional process by which policy is made in this country.

People talk about transparency like it's a good thing without ever speaking about why. In an increasingly complex world - one which is become interdependent in so many ways, it is difficult or impossible to navigate into the future when the right hand doesn't know the left exists. We are leaving a Neutonian world that thrived on predicatability, control and order and transitioning to a recognition that it is risky to leave the navigation map in the secretive hands of the few. Publish the damn thing and let the ppeople organize around it.

Huge security breach for the President to have mission critical emails going through the Blackberry service.

Not secure enough, and even could be dropped and lost. Who knows?

[...] This article here explains more on what he is doing with technology to get the public more involved and keep them up to date, and I think it is wonderful. First, the fact that he will be using YouTube on top of the radio is awesome. People my age go on YouTube all the time and I think it is a great way to get my generation to care more especially since so many of them voted for him as president. I think this will really be helpful and makes us feel like we are more involved than ever and get to know more about what is going on with us and the world. Also, the fact that he is going to use sites like Facebook and MySpace and Twitter to stay in touch too is again targeted at my generation, which is great. I don’t know many college kids that don’t go on Facebook at least once a day so again, this is another good way for him to reach out to us and keep us informed. As for MySpace, I know several people that use that site as well and as for Twitter, although I don’t know many people that use it, after discussing it somewhat in class, it seems extremely popular nationwide and will be a good source for him to give quick, short, and to the point updates on what is going on. So, there are so many things Obama is doing to get connected with not just the nation, but the youth of the nation and I think that is extremely important considering a lot of his support came from that age group. I also think it is important that he is using technology to strengthen his presidency because times are changing and technology is taking over and the government needs to keep up with it and thanks to Obama, they will!
