There is actually little difference between Linux and OSX as they’re both derivative of Unix. Open a terminal on a Mac and you can type all the usual Unix commands exactly as you can do in Linux if you care to open a terminal (and I know some Linux users that never did that).

What makes them different in the eyes of most users is just the graphical user interface but under the hood they’re very similar.

Can this beat Xandros Presto in terms of boot time.The best i have tested is 9 seconds after BIOS and shut down time is less than 2 seconds.And has graphics,looks and interface better than anyone.Check it out guys !

It looks very cool and sleek, although – few concerns about it:

1. Large icons make me think that this is mainly for touch screen devices, is it true?

2. If yes, how virtual keyboard shall look like?

3. Also, wonder to know, which Linux is this thing based on? Would be cool if it is something Debian-derived!

Looks like a nice looking interface, although a bit loaded imho. But still, it goes in the right direction… the next step is having an app store for Linux that makes it easy for users to install new applications on their netbooks. To address the issue, we started working on a linux app store called allmyapps ( http://www.allmyapps.com ) and we really working toward having a netbook optimized interface as soon as possible.

Honestly, I’d love to get an OS like this on a really low end desktop for someone like my mom; a 64 year old mostly computer illiterate person that only uses the PC for quick a google, checking email, and visiting a handful of sites.

An OS like this would be guaranteed to boot fast, run fast, and be simple enough for a person like her.

Here’s to hoping this OS will be released in a way that can make use of desktop hardware.
